Fuji X20 Thread

There is no doubt that the X10 and x20 are able to produce very similar images and a number of us now either have both or have migrated to the newer one. I am not yet convinced that the X20 is better than the X10 in low light, but it is certainly better as a raw shooter. Though Silkipix still has the edge on PS or lightroom.

I think it would now be logical to combine the threads and call it an Fuji Xxx Thread. It will not be long before the X30 comes along.

A yes from me & perhaps include the other small Fuji - the XF1 - as just posted on the other thread.

Although I'm not too bothered if it happens, I think it should just be X10 and X20 as they are the same camera line and a lot of things are identical on them such as the controls, lens general feel.

Some may disagree but I don't see the XF1 as the same thing at all. Just the same X10 sensor but completely different camera styles.

I'm ready to stand corrected - but isn't the XF1 pretty much a lean mean X10 ?
Same sensor - yes.
Same image quality - yes.
Same software quirks - not sure about this, but Fuji does like to use the same interface and features across their pocketable camera range - so I'll say yes.

and the rest is just packaging ;)

The key difference is that it has a completely different lens so I can't see image quality being the same. It also caters for a different market in my opinion. One is a true pocketable compact and the other is more serious looking with better physical controls.

Software wise I don't know but it seems a completely different camera to me.

Like I say, not too bothered if its included but not it doesnt seem the natural merger.

The X20 and XF1 have nothing at all the same but they'd be merged in the thread.

OK, Wil post here too as more debate about it is taking place here

1 - merge the threads - very messy and even more posts won't make sense and making an already enormous thread even more enormous

2 - close this X20 thread, with the last post providing a link to the current X10 thread and rename the x10 thread to X10/X20 [and XF1 if wanted]

3 - close both threads [remember both will still exist, both will still be linked to via the camera listing sticky thread at top of forum and reviews section and in the opening post of a new thread] and start a shiny new thread for both/all three cameras.

Discuss :D

I voted on the other thread but I have both cameras
option No3.
(I have no objection to the XF1 camera joining in as a sort of little brother, as it would not make much of a thread on its own)

The thing that makes the X-10 thread so unwieldy is the sheer number of photos posted in it. As users of the camera, we're all aware of its capabilities so is it really necessary to post ever more? Then a set of pics gets quoted, complete with all the pics. Not so much of a problem on a proper computer but on the rare occasions I use my phone to visit here, BANG goes my allowance in one click... I have no objection to people sharing their photos but there are several areas for picture sharing - IMO, discussion threads such as the X-10/X-20 etc should be a sharing of ways to get the best out of the equipment rather than sharing 6 shots per post of your holiday, followed by another 6...

I like seeing people's photos taken with the camera personally and I dont want to scroll through the image sections unless their was a specific Fuji X series section.

I think it is the unique sharing of Pics that make the X10 the winner it is.
It engenders many how did you do that questions. I think it is that, that X10 threaders miss when they come over here.
There are many ways to find what you want in any large thread that is what the Find function is for.

:agree:

(I voted '3' for the thread options) :)

ok, just so I am saying the same thing in both threads - the consensus over the wall is for option 3, a new thread for both cameras and the XF1 - so, I will leave this open until tomorrow, just so if anyone does want to comment further, they can.

Duncan has also suggested that the X10 thread has a bit of swansong - 1 final, favourite image posted by the people that have made thread, as a kind of sign off. I haven't read this thread start to finish, so not sure how much is image sharing, how much is talk, but if you wanted the same thing, just let me know - probably best you read the end of the x10 thread to see properly what is being suggested.
