Fuji X100s and X20 on the way!!

My X100S has arrived at my local shop but I can't pick it up until Friday, will report back once I've had a chance to play with it :)

Anyone been to Focus and had a play with an X-20?

i am looking forward to reports on both of these ,
focus speed should be interesting ,hopefully build quality is up there as well

Disclaimer: I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, these thoughts are based on my experience with the camera as part of family life not for a living!

Have spent about a week with my X100S and so far I love it. I sold my X100 about a month ago, the two main reasons were slow AF and the general sluggishness after taking a photo or browsing the menus. Both of these have been resolved, the focusing is on a par with the OM-D in decent light and even in poor light is much much better. The overall speed of the camera is massively improved which has made it an all round joy to use.

I've not used MF much but both the split image and focus peaking methods work well (I prefer the latter even if the former is cool to see just how the camera focuses).

Image quality seems very similar to the X100 so very good! I love the tones and sharpness even wide open is excellent. I am shooting 80-90% in B&W and finding the OOC images need very little work, for colour shooting I find that Velvia is great if you're out with family as the added punch is nice but for regular shooting I think standard is the way to go. Noise is very well controlled up to 3200 and 6400 is definitely usable although I find dropping the NR to -1 and using Photoshop plugins gives a slightly better result if you don't mind the extra time taken. In Auto ISO I am comfortable going to 1600 all of the time and 3200/6400 for B&W or when conditions mean the extra legroom is useful.

The move to the Q menu system is great and I've found myself using the 3 available custom modes much more than I did on the X100 because they're quicker/easier to access.

I haven't used the film mode at all yet (only realised this whilst writing this post) so will try to take some short clips soon.

Personally I think it's fairly priced for what you get but if you're on the fence about an X100 vs X100S then the second hand prices of the X100 would make me suggest picking one up first and if you love it apart from the AF/speed/MF then you know the extra money is probably worth it. The other improvements are nice but wouldn't make me pay the extra.

My daughter gives it the thumbs up!

Nice little review there, love the pics.

I'm thinking of getting a x-e1 with 35mm, would love the x100s but want a bit more reach to get more bokeh.

Keep those samples coming.
