Fuji X100

The other thing to watch out for is that this is for the camera only, yet a couple of weeks ago it was dearer but included the leather case at £79 and either the filter adaptor at £29 or an extra battery at £39, so not the price drop it might seem unfortunately.

Saw that just now - seems a good price and I'm still tempted but will wait till it drops a little more. I'm really not sure how I would live without a DSLR (or at least interchangeable lenses) so don't want to sell it to fund the X100.

But the temptation is strong ;)

Don't quite understand your logic. All in all it is 10% price drop. I for example don't want, like, need ugly leather case. Also am quite happy with 3rd party hood/filter adapter.

X100 is not really replacement for your dslr, excellent second camera though. Ordered mine and can't wait now :D.

I realise that and as I also have a Canon S95, it's pretty hard to justify the X100. But justification never stopped me before :D

Very true, I suppose photographers are like grown up kids. They will always find something what could potentially improve their photography.
Having said that, X100 is really brilliant street photography camera.

What makes it a good street photography camera, I've just bite the bullet so to speak and did my first proper street shoot session :) that was with my gripped 5DII & 70-200 but interested in what makes the x100 so special ?

Damien Lovegrove [IIRC] reviewed the X100 for PhotoPro a couple of months ago and suggested that its retro-cuteness made it completely unthreatening - exactly the opposite of a gripped 5DII and big zoom lens.

He said it was a super portrait tool because no one felt intimidated by it and they were therefore willing to pose for him or smile at the camera! :)

Just out of interest did anyone see the Kelby Grid Show were they were trying out the Fuji

See it HERE before buying one

Ungripped 5d and a 35 1.8 isn't THAT much scarier.. definitely not £900 for a luxury. Nice camera but for a fixed mount lens i'm not so sure unless you have money to burn.

Can't believe I missed this... I'm currently looking to give the x100 a second chance.
