Or not.![]()
Seems they've come through for the xe2, good news.
Why is exp comp useful in manual mode?Fuji have actually upgraded the X-E2 firmware several times since its launch including features such as:
And now:
- Interval timer shooting
- Support for the app (which is naff lol)
- AF+M F fine tune
- Classic chrome!
- Faster EVF refresh rate
- User selectable colour of focus peaking
- Use of fn buttons for custom actions

Well that's a pretty decent list of updates, great work Fuji!!!
- Faster startup
- Faster AF
- Improved tracking
- More accurate AF
- Eye detection
- Auto macro
- Improved video AF
- New AF modes inc. wide tracking etc.
- Electronic shutter giving speeds up to 1/32000 second
- New user interface
- Shutter sound volume control (presumably for the electronic shutter)
- White balance bracketing (up to three steps)
- 3 x auto ISO settings in order to quickly change minimum shutter speed etc.
- Exposure compensation in manual mode with auto ISO (this will be really useful actually)
- Natural live view mode to simulate an OVF
- EVF/LCD hue control (also could be useful as I find the EVF colours a little off)
- New video frame rates
- Ability to change aperture and shutter speed while recording video
- Ability to quickly auto focus using phase detect points when in manual focus mode
- Expansion of slowest shutter speed in program shift, up to 4 seconds
- Shutter dial can be set to T and use the thumb wheel to select electronic shutter speeds e.g 1/32000 second
- Silent mode has been renamed to "sound and flash" HURRAY!!!
- DIrect selection of AF point
- Ability to assign different functions to AF-L and AE-L buttons
- Variable focus area during MF
- Customisable Q menu
- Interlocking of metering and focus areas

Yes, had me a bit puzzled. Why is exp comp useful in manual mode?

Please bring these to the x100t now! I love mine but wish it had the xt1 focusing algorithms.Fuji have actually upgraded the X-E2 firmware several times since its launch including features such as:

No. The update is entirely cosmetic.
Yep, thats what I'm waiting for too. Although it may be a while before I can afford it, better get saving nowNow all we need is an X-E3 with weather sealing and that 24mp sensor![]()
Same EVF in the -E2 and -E2S, no change there at all.not entirely, the evf will be new and the grip will be improved.

Update: the X-E2s EVF has an enhanced “Organic EL” panel (also found on other Fuji cameras like the X30). Note that the X-E2 EVF also has an Organic El panel but is seems that the one on the X-E2s is slightly better. According to X-Photographer Max Angeloni the optical elements have also been improved. Long story shot, the X-E2s should give you a clearer view in the EVF but the resolution and time lag remain the same.
Well if thats the case then it seems they have shot themselves in the foot with the firmware update, not that I am complaining. I can't see any XE2 owners buying this. I suppose the refresh may appeal to new buyers."but is seems that the one on the X-E2s is slightly better"
Subjective opinion. Find something from Fuji and I'll believe it. As far as the specifications and descriptions from Fuji are concerned it's a cosmetic update only.
My prediction is that the X-E2S marks the end of the X-E2 which is presumably on run out and that the X-E2S will play the junior alongside an X-E3 in the same way the X-T10 is the junior to the X-T1 (hence the "auto" button). I foresee an X-E3 appearing before the end of 2016, probably late Q3, or Q1 2017 at the latest. Those waiting for an X-T2 will have a longer wait. Fuji know the hybrid-OVF is a Marmite option in the X-Pro1, there are at least as many don't want it as do. They need to get the x-trans III into a non-OVF body alongside the X-Pro1 quite quickly.Well if thats the case then it seems they have shot themselves in the foot with the firmware update, not that I am complaining. At the end of the day though, the already very good X-E2 is going to get a significant boost in the first week of February.
Same insides, different shell. I see no reason why what works for the X-E2S wouldn't work for the X-E2.I guess also with the X-E2s is that it will get further firmware updates that the X-E2 won't be getting in future?

I would be very surprised if there's an update for either the -E2 or -E2S after the one in February (unless it's to patch a problem with the February update) other than to address lens/accessory compatibility.Same thing here. Nothing wrong with the X-E2, but the next firmware update for the X-E2s I assume won't be available for the older X-E2 (even though they are the same?). So if you want the latest firmware, you have to buy the newer X-E2s, at a higher price tag than the old X-E2.
The refurb store still had x-e2 bundles last time I looked. You rarely find anyone asking less than their prices for a used X-E2.If any of you do fancy a change to a xe2s or xpro2 I have just put a wanted up for a xe2 with 18-55.
I did look on there £550 at the mo.
Regarding the refurbs. Would you rather but a 2nd hand one from a dealer with warranty or a return from Fuji?
I'd rather have it from Fuji, you know a refurb has had a once-over from a technician.Regarding the refurbs. Would you rather but a 2nd hand one from a dealer with warranty or a return from Fuji?

I currently have a refurb -E2 and a refurb 55-200. Both have given me no trouble and were cheaper than any second hand stock from a dealer.
