Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

Any rumours on what the X-E2 firmware update will include? Will it be similar to the upcoming one for the X-T1?

October/November seems to be the suggested time-frame.

It does make we wonder whether I should take the gamble on the update meeting expectations and sell the -Pro1 to get another refurb -E2 as second body before the rush starts..

I received my XE2 from the refurb. shop this morning. It's taken since before Christmas for one to become available (I narrowly missed one a few weeks ago.).
They're now out of stock again.

They say they are working on it,but havnt got that many people working on it so it going to take a bit longer :)

Got the XE2, updated to firmware 3.00.
Now then. Is it possible to use the EVF only, ie not have the LCD on at all for shooting, but still be able to view the pictures on the LCD on playback?
This would be via the "View Mode" button on the XP1.
I've tried all the settings in the "Set Up" menu but to no avail.

well i had my quote feedback from WEX for me x-e2. I wanted to upgrade/sidegrade to a x-t10. Anyway, they claimed there were "2 spots of dust on the sensor that they simply couldn't remove and only showed up under certain conditions so we wont be able to sell it on. however if you accept a lower quote...." yeah right mate, jog on. So they're sending it back. Looking forward to the firmware update now :)

They really check your stuff over, had the same with an Fuji XM-1, 2 pixels that might go dead luckily it was under g/tee with Fuji, but basically the same lower quote :(

yes because they tempt you in with a really good offer and then start moving the goalposts. 2 pixels that might go dead? how do they test for that? they work or they don't surely. You could argue every pixel "might" go dead.

Doesn't that count as "bait and switch"? Computer monitors with a couple of dead pixels would be considered within acceptable manufacturing tolerances, and I'd have thought the same would be true for a camera sensor!

I no ,luckily this time with my Xpro-1 it passed so got the full quote.

My experience with WEX has been quite the opposite. I was quoted £270 from my description, which was about a week before the X-T10 deals with the bonus appeared. So I hung on until then before sending. Got the full £270 + £80 bonus.

Hmm maybe too many people are taking up this very generous offer and they are being really super strict to limit the damage? They wanted £55 to take it off for a sensor cleaning before accepting my trade in

I've told them to go ahead and do it because after the £80 bonus I would still be ahead, but still :(

I agree @minnnt on the £80 bonus, my post might have been a bit misleading. However Wex offered me £260 for the X-Pro1. LCE offered £130, Cameraworld £160. So the price doesn't seem to be set by Fuji but by the camera shops themselves. It appears to be a no brainer to choose Wex right?

I don't know if all of us have genuine sensor issues or whether Wex are doing a 'webuyanycar' and offering a price then knocking lumps off it when they get their hands on it

well im not overly bothered as its still a damn fine camera. I'll keep my eyes open for any cheap refurb offers anyway but im not really in any huge rush. I just need to tame the GAS fires.

I don't think they are,but I been in shop and they really check everything over, you have to make an appointment to get your gear checked, you can't just turn up :)

I would been doing the same, but mine was Xpro-1 and the prices keep falling if I left it any longer, I think I would have to paid them :(

I wanted to upgrade/sidegrade to a x-t10.

I wanted to ask what people thought about the XT-10 vs XE-2... the Fuji vs Fuji site doesn't seem to give a huge advantage to the -10, apart from the tilty screen and electronic shutter. Oh, and being 3 years younger I suppose. That's all. Oh, and the pesky EVF review thing. I really like the idea of a tilty screen, and thinking of getting into the exchangeable X line, one of the XT-10 or XE-2 seems the way to go. Any major advantages that should push me towards the XT-10?

the only thing i was worried about was the lack of support for the x-e2. But since there is another , aledgedly good, firmware update on the way then im less worried. But they will stop support for it at some point. I just wanted the more modern model to ensure i get upgrades. Plus since WEX were offering £320 trade in (if it passed their tests) i dont think i would get that selling privately now and having lost a small fortune on my D800 im after every penny i can get. I dont think i will be buying brand new digital bodies ever again!

I don't get why everyone is so hung up on the image review in viewfinder issue. I can see it being annoying for something like sports as you need to see what's going on, but in my sony a7 and xe2 I like that you see the image in the viewfinder, so I can double check it (and it's easier to tell focus through the evf than on the rear screen), that way I don't have to chimp, and I also find that my subject usually walks away/ stops posing when I take the camera from my eye, but when I can check and then reshoot without ever taking the camera away from my face it just works better for the way I shoot
Each to their own though

Well I say annoyance but only having an X-E1 I can't actually claim to have used it in this way. This is only what I've read on the internet. Might be great! :)
