Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

I like how new Fuji's look like :) and their sensors are good.
X100 has AF so is good for her and not really bothered about fixed lens.
She loved experience of my F100 with 50mm so she might like fuji as well. Idea of switching lenses is more for me;)
Just seen on other forum that there was a deal for xm1 for £220....and I've missed it...That was in January

Sensors are good, could also look at the RX100 if she wants something small with a decent sensor and zoom.
I assumed when you were discussing switching lenses this is would be a requirement so the X100 wouldnt be a consideration.
XM1 are cheap, Fujis doing a good deal on the XA1 so worth also considering.

Not so cheap;) and a1 has worse.sensor

They are cheap, I sold mine (new & sealed) for £200. Compared to other larger sensor cameras thats very cheap.

A1 vs M1 is debatable. Theres not a clear winner, they are just a bit different.

In that case it's cheap ;) need to look for them and lenses.

If anyone's looking to buy a x-e1 at the moment fuji refurb site have them at £599 for body and 18-55mm. Top that up with the 10% discount code of paypal12 knocks it down to £540. £399 for body only( £360 with code). I just got my x100s of here :).

Shame the paypal12 code does nt work with the refurbished lenses on the fuji site :(
Well it does nt seem to for me!

Na just the camera's, but will work on the x-e1/x-e2 with 18-55mm's though.

That was quick reply, thanks:)
A bit of a shame....like X-M1 and seen that people use other lenses on them....as it would be mostly for my other half, MF would not be best option....need to look for videos of how MF works on them.
Thanks again

Up to individuals of course but lenses made for the camera always work best

I've always been one for having a go with legacy glass and being in the main a portrait shooter I needed a longer focal length prime for headshots. I have the Fuji 35mm which is my go to lens for longer portraits. I took the plunge and bought a Lens Turbo adapter (as I think I mentioned in an earlier post) as well as a 90mm macro that's also reknowned as being a very sharp portrait lens. Getting the best out of the camera, lens and adapter has been a bit of a learning curve, and i've learned some very handy techniques too but I think i've cracked how to get the best out of this combo and maybe getting rid of it might be a hasty move......think I may give it a little longer before I decide if i'm selling or not...

100% crop. Straight out of camera JPEG. 1/125, Beauty Dished flash at 1/8 power, ISO200, Neg Hi filter, +1 H Tone, +2 S Tone, +1 Sharpness. Damn I love this camera :)

Hi oh knowledgeable ones!

I have a canon mount 90mm tamron marco lens.

I figured it would make a great 135mm portrait or telephoto for compressed landscapes when paired with my XE-1.

But how?

Can anyone advise the best adapter to get and presumably it would be manual focus?

Hi Jeff, I'm not familiar with that particular lens, but to be able to use a lens with an adapter on an X-E1 it will need to have an aperture ring, as aperture settings will be manual.

There are lots of adapters available on Ebay that will suffice, some of them are a little sloppy when fitting but they seem to work perfectly. I think I paid about £7.00 for my Nikon fit one. Just make sure it's one that will allow you to focus on infinity (as some don't).

You are perfectly correct in presuming you will have to focus manually. You'll be able to use both aperture priority and manual modes and you'll have to go into the camera menu and activate the camera to work with no lens attached. That's about it really, good luck.

Hope this helps.,

George.

Just back from somewhere sunny. Was shooting XE-1 infra red in a sandstorm..... Those IR B&Ws look awfully pretty as they pop up in the viewfinder :)

Thanks, have just bought a 100mm f2.8 old fd lens and adapter from these forums for under £90

Is this on a converted X-E1 or using filters?? and can we see some pics??

It's a NON converted X-E1 with R72 screw in filter. That meant large apertures and 4 digit ISOs :(

I'll have some pics to share in a day or so. In the meantime, here's one from a non sandstorm day :) I've edited the jpeg in Lightroom on my laptop. This is basically a higher contrast version of what I got with my normal B&W settings.

Interesting, as I've recently got a R72 to use on my X-E2, only done a few trial long exposures so far, of nothing particularly interesting!!! Founfd that the 18-55 has a massive hotspot in the middle, just about manageable wide open, but the 35mm seems good. I understand that the 14mm has not hotspot issues but haven't acquired one yet

Hello, anyone from the current x-e1 users came from the x100? What are the factors that made you switch from x100 to x-e1? Is there a big difference on their image quality and focusing speed? Thanks in advance! :)

I just didn't like the focal length of the x100. I bought the xe1 to get a 50mm focal length and the short telephoto when it finally arrives will be my ideal lens (judging by what I used ŵhen shooting sony/minolta and canon). I find the af speed on both fine but then I mainly take controlled portraits so af speed isn't crucial (accuracy is and both have proved good in that respect)

I came from the X100, though I still have the X100 and it's a keeper. I just wanted some more flexibility with lenses. The X100 is great, and I used it almost exclusively for a year or so, but the 23mm lens can be limiting, though it makes you work as a photographer!!!

Thanks for answering my post. I'm using the x100 nearing a year now, while it's a brilliant camera, I sometimes find the focal length limiting specially in the wide end. I don't quite fancy the wide angle adapter and it's kinda expensive. So I'm thinking instead of buying the wide angle adaptor, why not just buy a camera in the same size of x100 but with interchangeable lens..

How do you find the evf shutter lag in the x-e1? Is the shutter lag just the same in x100? As I don't find any problem on the evf of the x100.

Is it confirm that the AF of x100 and x-e1 are just the same?

I did have the Wide Angle Adapter, and although expensive, it is of very good quality, I bought the Xe-1 to have some flexibility with lenses and to have a walkaround zoom. By hook or by crook at the moment I've ended up with:-

XF1 - pocket camera
X100 - old trusty favorite
XE-1
XE-2

!!!!

In terms of AF I think that XE-1 is pretty much the same speed as the X100, the XE-2 is notably faster. I mostly shot OVF with the X100 (to me thats the point of a rangefinder), but dis use EVF on long exposures. Currently thinking of getting the XE-1 converted to IR.

Has anyone been using a circ polariser with their 14mm lens, i havent had any time to test it out on mine when its not been raining
Do you get any uneven polarisation of the sky in the photos.

Havn't shot any portraits yet with the 60mm but had a go at some macro and I'm not sure if I'm that keen on it. It was a lot harder work than my sigma 105mm hsm

Apologies if this causes offence but I cannot find an XE-2 thread !

Just wanted to share a couple of SOOC jpegs taken with the XE-2/55-200 combination with the lens wide open at f4.8, 200mm, iso 800. These were taken whilst walking the dog so have not really nailed the exposure. What I was pleased with was the ability of this body/lens to AF (albeit in good light) quite quickly in AF-C mode and the detail/sharpness of this lens. Not the best wildlife shots but I was happy all things considering. I could sharpen these quite a bit but no USM or such has been applied so I am really impressed !

Just received my 60mm f2.4 and love it! yep, focussing might be on the slower side but the sharpness is more importrant to me and it has that in spades :)

Beautiful shot. I'm going to have to spring for either the 56 or 60 for portraits. Has anybody done or seen any comparisons between them?
