Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

Could I ask where you guys get your adapters from for your manual lenses - and if anybody has a C/Y one? I recently received one from big_is (Hong Kong) on ebay but it is loose and doesn't lock on my x-m1 - thus when rotating the focus ring of the lens, the adapter comes off the camera instead of the focus ring turning.

When fitting it to the body, just try keeping the lens release button on your camera pressed in. It might be catching slightly (the clip in the adapter that locks it on) and stopping it rotate enough to lock. If that doesn't work, the locking clip must be either damage or missing, they can be a touch loose but shouldn't rotate once on

now, now...let's not get carried away :)

on the subject of this nifty little adapter, I decided to do a quick comparison....couldn't do a direct one as i've no normal adapter (so couldn't compare same lens with or without LT). So I put the Fuji 35mm f1.4 against thr Rokkor 58mm 1.4 + Lens Turbo. Both set at f1.4, 1/125 with auto ISO. Tried to stand in as near to the same place as possible;

Interesting.....not far off the same FoV, the Rokkor definitely has a shallower DoF, so it should be safe to say it is shooting at f1.0, and the other interesting thing is the Fuji shot at ISO4000 whereas the Rokkor shot at ISO2000 so a stop difference there (well nearly). Just a pity they are quite tricky to get hold of o_O

Interesting. Is everything else the same? So the colour difference is due to the lenses? Have to say I prefer the Fuji ;)

Everything else is the same... Looks like the fuji renders on the warmer side!

As nice a lens as the Rokkor is, this makes me think... Do I really need it? Yep, it becomes a superfast piece of glass, but if I'm getting virtually the same FoV as the 35 do I need both? Especially as no other lens comes close to how sharp the 35 is. Hmm.

At Panamoz the X-E1 is roughly £590 and the X-E2 £800. ( Elswhere the difference is greater: Wex £719 and £1150). Is the X-E2 worth the extra money? The differences don't seem to be very significant? I have no Fuji cameras at the moment; if I had the X-E1 I wouldn't consider an 'upgrade'.
I went with the xe1 not worth £400-500 extra for the 2 imo better to wait and see what the. Xpro2 or xe3 brings

Just bought an XC 16-50mm @ £100 for the wifes X-E1 as people seem to be giving these away at the moment!

Hi all,

I'm enjoying my X-E1 but have a focus problem I hope you can help with. On my canon 50d I used to often auto focus and then flick the lens switch to manual focus to lock the focus for multiple shots for bracketing or for when I use a ten stop and can't see to focus with it on. I can't seem on do this with the Fuji. Basically switching to manual from auto doesn't keep the focus I've just set. Does anyone know how to do it? If you start in manual focus and then press the back focus button to pre focus would this keep it locked?

Many thanks
Steve

What firmware are you on?

This was a "known feature" a while back. But I just checked on my X-E1 and it's behaving normally now - fpcus doesn't change when I flip from AF to MF.

Oh, hello, small oddly shaped bit of metal......

Funny how the X-E1 thread is basically dead but the X-Pro 1 one is thriving.....

Anyway, after several emails back and forth I finally have a SunwayPhoto L grip for the X-E1. And it's pretty nice. Battery and card can be removed and it works with all the arca style bits I have. Including an Arca head :)

However, the grip blocks the focus assist light :( Sunway are aware of this and are redesigning to avoid it. However, the grip is in 3 pieces so you can use it as an L plate without the grip or use the whole thing but sacrifice the focus light.

There are a small number of these "faulty" grips available for £20 each. When they have stock of the fixed ones they will be £44.99. Contact the UK dealer if you're interested http://sunwayfoto.co.uk/

They should make it for the XP1.

Yep i think a lot of people have brought the X1-pro,with the great deals going on,but i am still using my XE :)

Don't tell me that........

I suspect that the reason is that machining can be incredibly expensive. An X-E1 bracket will presumably fit an X-E2. But people have been looking forward to the X-Pro 2 for ages on forums so there's no point tooling up until that's here (which I don't believe will ever happen).

True, Ill email them and demand a prototype for my camera. Alternatively Ill design it and get a machinist I know to make me one..... but then I may as well buy an ishoot.

I have the same problem with the c/y adapter I bought from that seller. I tried everything, but can't get it to fit tight. I also had a bad experience with an EOS/FX adapter I purchased from a UK based seller on ebay (ukdelivery).

Here you go....despite my best attempts I couldn't find a UK source and had to get it from China...think it was around 10 days. Great grip though, feels solid, great fit and the Arca Swiss plates are a godsend. Vertical attachment is totally solid too (even with that beast of a macro lens on it)

ta-daa..horrid mobile pics;

Looks nice. I don't like the single screw holding the vertical bracket but as long as it stays tight it shouldn't be a problem.

The reason I went for Sunway is that they make really well finished stuff and they have a very helpful UK distributor. Also, 20 quid :D

Jonathan, how much does the AF lamp get blocked by? Wondering if the problem could be solved with Mr. Drill, worth a pop for £20?

quick question....
lens adapters for Fuji X...any lenses can use AF or all of them have only MF ?
there are plenty adapters - for nikon, olympus etc etc...
was wondering if all are MF
Thanks

Yes. All will only MF.

Yes. All will only MF.
That was quick reply, thanks:)
A bit of a shame....like X-M1 and seen that people use other lenses on them....as it would be mostly for my other half, MF would not be best option....need to look for videos of how MF works on them.
Thanks again

Any camera that could use all lenses and retain AF would be the most popular camera in the world. MF isnt to bad, the Xs have decent aids like peaking and live view. If you dont shoot moving targets wide open its pretty easy.

Will look in to options:)
Remaining options are x100 or x10/20...
