hi , i bought my fuji s9500 back last year second hand for £150 and i was wondering what people think of it . so far i have just used it for casual photography ( taking pics of my family on days out etc ) but i really want to get some great looking pics out of it .
if anyone has any tips id be most greatful cos my knowledge of the manual settings is almost non existant and at the moment i seem to be struggling to take good quality pics . most of pics either come out too dark or too bright and if i dont use the flash the pics become blurry as if the shutter is staying open too long .

if anyone can tell me what im doing wrong id be very happy :)
thanks in advance

See page 100 of your manual.......RESET the camera

Next on the left side of the camera (viewed from the back) is focus mode button (AF-single, AF-continuous and manual, one touch AF) Set to the horizontal positon S

Looking from the rear, right of the viewfinder is the metering mode switch set to vertical

Set MODE dial to A and set the aperture to 5.6 and start shooting

For manual mode on that camera i'm positive once you set mode dial to M and determine the metering mode and aperture
View either screen you will see an exposure scale -........l.......+ hold down the +/- button behind the on/off switch and turn the adjuster dial right of the mode dial until the marker is in the centre. This means the shot is correctly exposed, again dependent on the metering mode used.

agree with what dcash said.
I used to have the S9600 and it was a great bridge camera.
Stick with Aperture priority and play from there.
My 9600 did have the odd focus hunting issues, but only a few in every hundred photos.
