is this right? both shots on a tripod same lens both f8 both iso 200, there seems to be a pattern/noise in the fuji parts, i dont think its noise, what do you think? am i imagining it?

heres one at f5.6 iso400 it gets worse

ok perhaps this one then? it doesnt look like traditional noise the fuji is the top one

Could you draw arrows or point out where and what you are seeing?
 
does that help? the pattern which is not present with exactly the same settings on a nikon
 
This is an interpolation artefact from 6 to "12 megapixels"

Shoot the camera as JPEG "M", if opening as RAW choose 6.1 megapixels (some converters do not allow this)

Download a trial version of CaptureOne, as it allows you to view RAW files as 6 megapixels (you can do this with ACR, but not Lightroom)
 
that explains why lightroom is much worse! thanks, but this picture you are viewing is 6.2mp in cs3, do you think jpeg is the better i have read a lot of S5 users use jpeg instead of raw
