Hi Folks,

Since I had my Leica equipment stolen, I haven't got any photography done at all. I have just bought a brand new Fuji S3 from a friend, and I want to buy some new lenses to go with it - unfortunately the budget doesn't run to a bag full of Canon L glass anymore:suspect:

I wonder if anybody can tell me with authority, that it will accept all Nikon F/G (non AIS) mount lenses with full AF mode, and whether or not this extends to the new DX mount??

Using Canon was great, because all the AF lenses mounted AF motors, whereas the S3 is a Nikon mount, and I'm not absolutely certain which lenses I can mount.

It'll be good to get back to taking some 'proper' photographs again.

Luckily the S3 takes far superior Nikon lenses so you are fine :)

You can fit any Nikon F-mount lens to the S3 Pro (apart from some really old 60's pre-AI lenses).

Finding glass won't be a problem. Great camera BTW :)

As already said all modern nikon lenses will fit your Fuji, and may I welcome you to the darkside, even if you are currently just hovering on the edge, please take a cookie :D ;)

It's kinda nice to be back here:)

I was VERY impressed with the camera when I had it in my hands for a couple of hours earlier in the week.

I can't quite make up my mind which lens package to go with at the mo. AFS f2.8 in stages up to 200 mm will be expensive, the same in AFS VR will be almost as much, and similar in VR/DX will be dirt cheap, (reading between the lines the 18 -55 VR is reasonable, but the 55-200 less so).

I have taken advantage of another friends generosity (at least for the summer hols, and till I build up a fighting fund), and bought a mint 1 month old 28-300mm Tamron VC (VR) lens - full nomenclature TAMRON AF 28-300MM F3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD IF MACRO!!! (some good reviews), for £225, less than half new cost - you never know, I may even like it!! The S3's EDR feature and 12mp image sizes will help make up any shortcomings the lens may have -we'll see.

Not sure I'll get on with VR, so it's an opportunity to get a few hundred images on a card, and mess with them and see what turns up. I may be pleasantly surprised:)
 
Wow, you got a great deal on that 28-300 VC, its getting some great reports!
