Fuji RF / GW / GS 645/6x7's

There's a fair few people in the Fuji 690 thread who are now using them! I still have a Fuji GA645Zi which is the only one they made with a zoom lens, albeit only a short range. The optics are superb on all of them, including the zoom. I've owned and sold the GW670II and GW690III which are great for landscape but there's nothing to stop you using them for other general stuff as well, although those don't have built-in light meters. No nightmare stories with any of the ones I had.
 
I think all of the Fuji RF's have a good reputation, the glass is always brilliant to stellar and the build quality is superb, especially in the 690 series as these were made for Japanese tourist photographers who were putting 40 or 50 rolls a day through them.

How do you find the 645? Any good for portraits? Also is the viewfinder in portrait orientation?

Yes the viewfinder is portrait, as it is with the other non-zoom Fuji 645s. The zoom is actually quite good for portrait shots as it goes to a (very) moderate telephoto, but the aperture isn't particularly wide.
 
The GA's have a vertical viewfinder as well so not sure that they'll be any better for you?

I met a photographer round the back of Kenilworth Castle this afternoon, with a FUJI GX680. I don't think I have ever seen such a massive camera; it looked bigger than Woodsy's LF! He let me look through the "business end", but a surprisingly dim image. He was taking Provia 100F. The Fuji was on a Benro tripod; it needed it!

(I see from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuji_GX680 that the camera alone weighs 4 kg!!!)
