Greetings

Wondering if someone has shot expired 1600 Provia here lately. I got a roll to try but cant gamble risking my shots. its certainly expired long ago and not sure about the history of storage.

Whats the best speed to rate it at? 200? 400?

Thanks

T

To be honest, it's always going to be a gamble using expired slide film with no knowledge of prior storage conditions. Generally the advice is to add a stop of exposure for each decade it is expired, but I have only used that with negative films.

How long ago did it expire?

If it's a risk, don't do it. If it's a bit of fun experimenting then carry on.

Cheers,
I have used slide film from mid 90s that turned out to be almost perfect but then there i knew that it was cold stored and i over-exposed it by a stop.
Yesterday i shot Ektachrome 100VS from 2005 and i metered it 64 ISO and turned out to be amazing.
However yes provia 1600 is a difficult one.

Thats correct. its 800 Film and it has push times printed. infact i have also read that its 400 film designed to be pushed. I think if i rate it at 100 i might get something out of it ;)

Taimoor, the film you are shooting with just keeps getting faster and faster!

No, sadly not. I used to shoot a lot of TMAX 3200, though, it was great.

Konica once made a colour neg film 3200 ISO...I've used it once many years ago and can't remember the results or even buying it...one day I'll have to find the negs and scan to see how good or bad it was.
