Fuji price increase coming

Thankfully I stocked up on Velvia when 7 day shop were selling short dated stuff so I should be o.k for a year or so. 4x5 Acros is just too expensive compared to other black and white film, which is a gutter as it is my favourite black and white by far.

This chap on eBay sells films for better prices than 7day shop and has free shipping. I stocked up my freezer with transparencies from him including Kodak when they announce Ektachrome end. The 5 x Velvia50 120 rolls are 18.99 delivered (same is 7day shop May2012 expiry).

Update: the price is going up - I was in time to get it for 18.99 and its now 19.99. Still bargain for 5 rolls of 120 Velvia 50.

Hi guys, I'm relatively new to film. Just wondering what are the types of film that Fuji are famous for/ I should try? Any recommendations? I want to buy and stock up on them before the price goes up.

I know the Velvia series (50 and 100/F) are quite renowned. Any other recommendations?

Provia is a lovely E6 film - more natural colour balance than Velvia, for when vivid colours aren't appropriate (eg portraits).

Acros is a fantastic B&W - fine grain, tonal range. My favourite slower B&W.

I also like the Neopan 400CN C41 B&W better than the Kodak alternative.

I quite like the Superia range too for general purpose and they are good value for sure.

I don't think Fuji make a bad film to be honest.

I stocked up last Autumn, when i envisaged the price to increase again. I currently have a small chest freezer loaded to the brim with Velvia 50, Velvia 100F and Provia 100F. Hopefully there's enough film to last me till i finish with E6, or E6 finishes becoming viable for the labs that take pride in there process control.
