But it's £5,000+ and it doesn't work with Fuji's existing teleconverters. It will be available in a kit with a new dedicated 1.4x TC, but if you fancy 400mm f/4 then forget it.

In practical terms it's 427mm @ f/4 with the converter or 305mm f/2.8 without.

Looked at in those terms the price isn't that unreasonable compared to the Nikon & Canon equivalents.
 
The stupidest looking Fuji lens ever created IMHO

The hood looks like an advert for Green onions or something :LOL: I'm going to nickname it the Onion lens.

I like the fact that the foot has what appears to be integrated Arca mount. I know you can buy these third party for most lenses but wish more manufacturers standardised it.

Breaking News: Fuji halt production of their newest and most expensive lens designed for their range of X system cameras. Sources say this is because 'Cagey' from a popular photography forum thinks it looks stupid, dubbing it "the onion lens".

Perhaps they will see the market for an aftermarket lens hood without logo!

Seriously, what a dumb post, I am allowed not like the look of a lens FFS :D When are you buying it?
 
I don't like the look or size but I'm pretty sure I'll love the IQ and ideally the speed of it. So annoying :D

Who's upset? I'm not buying it either, but when I start worrying more about what my lens looks like than how it performs I'll know to pack it all in ;)

It's been widely noted as to the reason for the lens not being black. If it's gonna be silver, I don't see what difference a logo or green band will make (unless of course, form > function).

The Nikon and Canon 300mm f/2.8's are both over £5k. I guess you could argue that you're getting more lens for the money with those but I would imagine that Fuji have produced this to A) stop people going over to Canon or Nikon now that they have a fast telephoto option and B) to tempt the odd person away from the big two who may have been hesitating because of the lack of fast telephoto. I'm not sure how popular this lens is actually going to turn out to be but I very much doubt it's going to alienate anyone.

To be fair it's more so the hood, why giant logos? It reminds me more of the logo on a pack of frozen veg, or chopped onions, hence my 'humorous' comment.

And hey, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with not liking the silver or more likely the green or logo. It's hardly in keeping with the classic design cues given to the rest of the range.

Perhaps this is Fuji trying to make their distinctive mark, much like Canon have with their L glass? White with a red ring, aren't they?

I never liked the look of Canon's white lenses, again, just personal preference. SIlver is fine, looks-wise, it won't be very stealthy in the field though, I wonder how reflective it is in sunshine
