Debating getting one and selling the 16-50mm on mainly as I want an aperture dial and the reviews say how well built it is.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has owned the 16-50mm as well as the 18-55mm and can answer just how much better it is?

Thanks.

As Topsy says, the 2mm might be missed but IMO the 18-55 is a fantastic lens - the only reason I don't use mine is that the 18-135 is far more versatile and I don't need the extra smidgin of quality that the 18-55 offers.

The Fuji XF range of lenses is the Lexus to the XC range's Toyota.

The 18-55mm is "Excellent", nothing more to be said.

I had an X-T20 with the 18-55 lens and it was absolutely brilliant. I haven't tried the 16-50 but when I bought the camera I asked the guy in the shop if there was much difference between the lenses. He looked up from what he was doing, looked me straight in the eye and said "Oh yes, very much" :D

The 18-55 is worth getting for the better build quality and aperture.

XF lenses look and feel great and i get much more joy from using them than i did with the plasticy XC lens i used to have

I still use the 18-55 a lot, and I bought the 16-50 for my son (nice and light for smaller hands with his X-T10).

For me, the main difference aside from the speed is just the user experience. Aperture ring, great build quality, smoothness, etc.

The 16-50 is a bloody good lens for the money.... the 18-55 is just a bloody good lens.

I had the 16-50 temporarily whilst my 18-55 was being repaired. There's really nothing in it IQ wise, it's all in the feel. 18-55 feels like a tank after the 16-50. I'd have been happy to keep either really, but having forked out for repair I kept the 18-55. It's since been replaced by the 16-55.

If you mean the ring in front of the zoom ring I have just tried all mine
XF-18-55
AX 10-24
XF18-135
XC 50-230

With the exception of the 10-24 which does not extend on zooming then they all have a very slight wobble, I suppose they have to have a bit if play to enable the lens to extend.

Did you see where mine was wobbling from, by the aperture ring on the lens body? Is that where yours is wobbling from also?

So that lens went back and a different lens sent in return.... Also defective and being returned tomorrow!

Decided to get a refund instead of another seeing as both lenses were defective from the same place and will try elsewhere!

I don't know how much you paid but they are £259 at e-infinity
