Hi, can anyone recommend a good (and free) windows FTP client?

I have my first job for an agency this weekend and will probably be sending the files via FTP. I was recommended Transmit, but that appears to be for Mac only.
 
excellent thanks guys. I have seen that one pop up in my searches, but there were so many i thought i would see what comes recommended.
 
note my corrected URL - I assumed the first one but the .org address is the correct one!

I've had mixed fortunes with Cute FTP, in that if you set it to transfer a large job (A few thousand files on a Joomla site) it just fails after a point.

Filezilla on the other hand is top notch.
 
If you are using Firefox, the FireFTP add-on works well too.

cuteftp is horrible! Fillezilla or Leechftp is what I use, leechftp has lovely multithreading for uploading loads of files at once which is why I prefer it
 
Yeah - Joomla was my big FTP problem too.
That and JAlbum.....
Transfers just stopped at some random point.
Tried loads of clients, none significantly better than the other until I eventually found FireFTP which works flawlessly.
 
If you want really easy just open a windows exlorer (explorer, not Internet Explorer) window and then type in the ftp address at the top.

although that works it is extremely basic and youll be missing things like transfer resume, savable connections for quick access, multi FTP server connections.. blah blah
 
Looks like Filezilla it is then. I will have the detials of the server later today so will download it and test it out
 
Windows already has an ftp client built into its dos prompt :)

Good old fashioned command line, ftp at it's quickest and once you know the commands simplest :)
 
cuteFTP PRO for me.. been using it all my life it seems..
