Or as the case may be for me. Not!! Well after my recent events I obviously have to watch my diet. I have infact spoken to the Doc about it as I felt I was getting a bit paranoid of what was in our food that we were buying. His words were, cut out the carp like sweet sugary stuff, meat with all the fat on it etc etc, but told me not to read into it too much. So I was wondering does anybody have any tried and tested healthy meals in their recipe books? Stuff which is pretty low in Salt and Sugar would be a help. I know there are recipes out there, but you never know you fit TP lot might have something special tucked away somewhere,if you would not mind sharing it that would be great

Something like the Hairy shirtlifters Bikers diet cook book maybe worth a punt. Ive got it but I only ever seem to do the chilli-con-carne which is lovely. This is down to laziness on my part more than anything though.

I am a big fan of Jamie, and much of his recent stuff is fairly healthy... you could always cut back on somethings and swap full fat stuff for low fat stuff.

Here is a quick one

Roast vegetables and spaghetti

Tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, onions, butternut squash – much as you like – chopped up.

Put in a roasting tin and add some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt (if you want) and pepper.

Roast at about 180-200C until the vegs are tender and browning a bit on the edges.

Put about 5 peeled cloves of garlic (less or more as you like) in about 500ml of stock (veg or chicken stock cube will be fine). Bring to the boil and simmer until the garlic is soft. Blitz this until it is puree-like.

Cook spaghetti (or whatever pasta you fancy, but longer pasta seems to work best) and when drained and in a serving dish add the vegetable and the garlic puree and mix.

Serve as it is or with some grated parmesan.

If you want some meat, fry some thin strips of chicken until the have browned a little and add either, add them to the vegetable mix when it goes in the oven, or cook the chicken fully and mix it in at the end.

Stir fry recipes are generally very healthy and very low fat. Loads of different flavourings in supermarkets.

Try making bolognese with turkey instead of beef.

Cheers Dave, I am pretty good at cooking and yes replacing the carp for good stuff is ok. With all due respect, I can throw all those healthy ingrediants together, cook it and eat it in some shape or form.. But I was more after something a littler more special as regards to creating a meal. Like I say there are plenty out there but if there are ones that people have tried themselves and would recommend it then great.

Another vote for hairless bikers. Great book dead easy to follow and down to earth.
