I was covering a kids football tournament at the weekend and was delighted when my 2x converter arrived in time for the second day ... but I wish I hadn't bothered. I used it with my Nikon 80-200 and, although I knew there would be some difference in quality, I found I really struggled to get a decent shot. The focusing was just not quite there. The lighting was good, so that wasn't a problem. I don't know if I was expecting too much or if there's something I should have done that I didn't. Just frustrated...

I can't speak for Nikon lenses but I don't think any of Canon's zooms can cope with a 2x T/C...especially on moving targets as they have two problems, sluggish AF and degraded IQ.

as bob says, canon zooms are really slow and often don't focus correctly, i gave up on mine.

Well, I originally bought it to use on safari, not for shooting sport. But as the safari has been cancelled due to civil unrest, I thought I'd try to get some use out of it! I guess shooting elephants or leopards in the bush would be a better use for it.
