From sky to virgin

Broadband should be quicker than sky.

I'm wondering if once sky is deactivated, will TV shows already downloaded still be watchable on their box?

Recordings are tied to the viewing card, so once that is changed/deactivated they're unwatchable.

Yes. the Sky+ feature requires a paid subscription, without that the box turns into a non recording and no on demand freesat box.

I looked at moving to sky, they only offer 6mb broadband locally. My neighbour is so fed up he's moving to virgin.

I went to Virgin but now I've moved in with the other half we've installed my old Sky+ box in the bedroom so I'll check the recorded shows this evening

Call me stupid.... (go on inviting it) but could you not remove the hard drive or download it somehow to something else, and then somehow upload to the media box or if TV has a USB port, plug a stick in?

I think the issue is some of the recordings are encrypted!

yup recordings are encrypted to the viewing card.

Well after horror stories online of how difficult SKY can be when you ring up to cancel it was all very simple, the call lasted no more than five minutes!

I have now just signed up to Virgin.. £70 Quidco, £100 M&S, John Lewis or Amazon voucher could not be passed up, only a 12 month contract and cheaper than my current Infinity..
