As Neil said, you can get USB cassette players which convert tape direct to USB. I paid about £15 for mine and use Audacity to tiby up the sound and split it into individual tracks. If it's for an old tape that you can download as an MP3 you might want to take the opportunity to get a good version without wow and flutter but if it's for something you've recorded and want to preserve it's worth the time and effort.USB tape decks are a thing.
