Hi

I just saw that this is the friendliest forum on the internet!! haha, what a joke!

Whilst researching online photography course reviews I came across a thread asking about the photography institute. Having recently completed the course I thought I would join and post my thoughts. As I genuinely loved the course I wrote a glowing in depth review and recommended it to the OP.

A few weeks later I logged back on to see further posts etc on the thread. Instead of further discussions about the course the conversation had changed to accusations of me (and another poster) working for the photography institute by promoting the course. One person even commented that I must be a fraud as my IP address was in spain!! Do I have to start each thread with my current location and why Im there? Should I not say how good something is because that obviously makes me on their bankroll for promotions?? To top it off, I was not a genuine customer as Id not posted on here before!

Well, for one thing I wont be posting again! The point of forums is to share thoughts and experiences with others. It makes no difference to me if someone else completes an online course, I just thought I would recommend something that was helpful and enjoyable to me.

Talk photography is definitely not the friendliest forum on the internet. Far from it!!

Zelly, I can understand your reaction, but would ask you to consider it from the other side of the fence too. We get hundreds of people registering every year to make a single post promoting some company or another, then not posting anything again. Further checking usually reveals those people are linked to the company involved and often from european or middle/far eastern IP addresses/companies. This is a fact of the world of internet forums, regardless of the subject they cover. A one off post such as yours was bound to raise eyebrows because of such occurances.

So, if people have reacted badly, then as a forum we apologise, but its not without reason based on experience. I would ask you to stick around and try and take an active part and see if your opinions change. Like every community, there are differences of opinion and debate, but generally the atmosphere round here is friendly and helpful - try it and see.

Yes I agree with Yv, I'm a fairly new member to the Forum and have found it a really good place to learn and improve your photographic skills and through the 'Meeting Place' to join in with other members and enjoy a day out or in the studio doing what you enjoy.
I have again found all the members I have come into contact with to be courteous, respectful and very helpful, OK you are always going to get one or two odd balls, some people like to show off, others like to appear dominant but hey I put that down to life in general.
Zelly, please stick around, your experience can only get better and I bet in a few month times you will be glad you did.
Dave
