Hi,

My friend who is partially sighted is looking for a camera, can anyone recommend anything is the biggest LCD 3 inches? Also he wants to use it for film, and be able to plug it into the tv - is this possible?

Thank you in advance

Hi kate1 welcome to the board. When you say film, I take it you mean to be able to record video?

Jon, of course Kate1 do mean record video, whoever have heard of a 35mm film camera with a LCD screen and be able to plug into a television set?

Anyway Kate, there may be some cameras that have bigger LCD screen and able to record, but sorry I can't think of any off the top of my head, I would have to look them up, however just to let you know that even if you can't find one, I'm sure that there are accessories that can help out. There may be some kind of clip on covers for the screen that magnify the screen, there are also some kits where you can conncect the camera to devices such as iPad or laptop or similar, and use the iPad/laptop's large screen.

So you know that you can keep trying to find a camera that matches your friend's needs, but if not able to do so, just so you know there are alternative options, therefore don't give up trying if not able to find a suitable camera.

I have very poor eyesight and I struggle to see the LCD screen on my little compact. I use the viewfinder as I find that I can see the image a little better. But as already mentioned by Major Eazy, there may be clip on covers that will magnify the LCD screen.

Another option may be to get a dedicated Full HD camcorder if video is more important, then you can simply watch the video on a tv via a cable pretty easily.

How about an iPad or similar? I understand that the cameras on some tablets are vaguely reasonable and they do have big screens! Not a budget solution unless you compare the expense to a DSLR kit!

But then again, like I said, there are kits that you can connect to the camera and with the right app, you can see on the iPad what the camera is seeing.

I dont know of any DSLR with a larger LCD but im pretty sure I've seen a Samsung camera with an LCD of 4.8".

Edit: Yup google says its the Galaxy camera, 4.8" screen, does video and has a HDMI port.
