Fresh GAS...

Kodak H35N arrived. Popped a roll of colour plus in it so not to waste a really good film if it has any issues.

Compared to the Pano the film advance is nicer, The strap has a stiffer string so you can pop it through the strap holder holes on the body without swearing and needing a pointy pin or needle to persuade it through.

Film loading is slightly different. The rewind lever doesn't need to be popped down as the cartridge just slips right in. Winder gearing feels different. It's not an endless one to get to the next frame by the feel of it.

The flash/no flash control is very stiff. The pano lever thing for the modes is better. Also that locks the shutter out when it's got the cover across. This one has nothing like that so there's more likely to be accidental pictures. Star mode thing is also very stiff to move.

Hopefully this one will be less uncomfortable to use.

I did think the winding wheel was terrible but then found they'd put a piece of cardboard inside with how the film should sit....

If it's any good then loading it with XP2 or another 400 b & w for the gloomy months might not be a bad use for it.
A friend brought a Kodak H35N to our bbq on Sunday, I took a couple of party pics on it and look forward to seeing the pictures when she has the film developed. She also had a small Polaroid which turned out pictures the size of the little Instax prints, that was very hit or miss as to was the developer spread correctly. Fun when you have had a few drinks but not as predictable as the Fuji and having to shield them from the light as they processed seemed like a lot of faff.

Wandered out with the Kodak. None of the winder issues I had with the pano. Doddle to wind on. Apart from nudging the battery door so it fell open and jettisoned the battery onto the ground which I had to then chase and retrieve

Some YT person suggested the star mode thingy makes a good alternative to a proper lens cover.

Looks like the canon is dead :( Died part way though a half frame roll. Frame display display has disappeared. Rewind button not working. Rather annoyed as I think it had probably taken some good pictures until then.

Doesn't switch on at all. Bum.

Couldn't sleep the other night and ended up playing on my phone. A well used Z9 on Wex for just under 1700 quid was the result. I'm a Sony user and I will probably use the Z9 for multiple exposures and auto-capture. Arrived today and didn't have a charger so Wex refunded the new cost of one and it cost 30 quid less so a Z9 for £1653 was the end result and it is in really decent condition with only major scuff on the bottom.

Managed to rewind the film by holding the battery in and pushing the rewind button at the same time. I'm hoping it's just dodgy contacts and it can be sorted easily.

Gas attack continues. Due to having several rolls of 120 left I decided the best thing to do was to get a Holga and continue the plastic tat camera theme. All the really nice 120 cameras are really expensive and I still curse selling the GA645i. I have the old automat but have shot all of 2 rolls ever with it in the decade I've had it so even though I like the results it's an ornament.

Canon powered up yesterday having done nothing to it.

I know what you mean..... I bought a 5 pack of 400TMX for a bargain price, expiry 09/23 with a plan to use it on my Agfa Isoly thing. It occurred to me that maybe the film is too fast for the camera and that maybe the film is very usable and could be a waste on "plastic tat".

Canon definitely up the wazoo. Thought it might just be dodgy contacts but after loading a film today it's done 2 shots and showing -- or a blank rear screen. Gutted as it was a fun camera to use. I am going to send it back and keep everything crossed it can be repaired. Wouldn't rewind so just had to cut the film in the end. Hopefully I can load the rest of the film into something else.

:(

Checked the 120 film collection and it's about double what I thought. Oops. Holga is a bit hit and miss. Decided it is best used with the odds and sods collection of 120 not the good stuff. Picked up the automat but I don't think I'm a great fan of that. Have shot all of 6 rolls of 120 since having any 120 cameras which isn't really very many.

Finished first roll in Holga but it's just so strange wondering whether you follow the frame numbers or totally ignore them.

Have shoved unfinished 35mm into the Vito C. Cut it a new leader and somehow it loaded seemingly ok.

But giving into GAS and Film acquisition syndrome has been a good motivator to get out there and use film up which seems to be easier to do than 'taking photos'. It's odd but it works.

Wilkinson cameras have refunded me for the canon. It's uneconomical to repair :( Such a shame. It was good to use. Half frame and motor wind and AE/AF for a photo spaffer like me was absolute heaven.

Decided to get a water proof bright yellow minolta to sort of replace the canon. Which EVRI seem now to have lost. :headbang:

Had a 110 Minolta waterproof P&S many years ago but couldn't live with the results from the small negs.

Yellow one was delayed so spotted a cheapie Minolta AF twin lens thing on Ffordes. That arrived same day as the water proof one! Used both this week and they seem ok. Will be awaiting the results from FilmDev eagerly after the tragic sprocket rocket. I definitely pressed the shutter more than once so it's odd how there isn't anything other than one picture on it. Negs might show something more. I was expecting about 4 pictures and a few double exposures or large gaps. I wasn't expecting just one photo.

Looked into film drawer and saw all the 120 and thought the Holga is going to make a mess of that. The Automat is difficult due to the WLF. It's got an eye level finder but it's dimmer than Jedward.

So saw a £20 Agfa Isola on AW and thought why not. It can't be worse than the Holga. It's got f7 and f11 and 1/35th so ideal for gloom. Only got colour 120 in any vast amount so it should be fairly tolerant of being a bit maxed out. It's also expired so again is less likely to mind being a bit over. Will also be a good lesson for hand holding and not wobbling around like an excited weeble when taking pictures

Chuffed with the minolta AF tele results. £29 well spent I think. Finished a second roll in that at the weekend. Finished the roll in the Isola last week so it will be interesting to see how that turns out. If it manages more than one shot on a roll then it's outdone the Sprocket Rocket. No idea what went on with that at all. There's one shot half way through the roll and that's it. I definitely took more like 7 or 8.

The isola is much better behaved than the Holga as far as film transport goes. It's slightly fiddly to load but you can feel the film moving without snagging or doing weird things. The Holga had a fat roll loose mess situation part way through and the Isola finished the roll with it all neatly wound up having needed no mid roll intervention at all.

Got the negs back for the Isola and I can see how there were only 8 shots on it. Classic case of user error by me. I found a weird Braun Paxina thing on MW cameras so I decided to risk it for a biscuit and order that as it is a cool looking camera. Someone else mentioned using them but then I read the reviews so if it actually turns up it will be some kind of miracle...

Also found a Practika B200 randomly while tidying up. Might have to give that a try but it's quite a heavy beast. Seems to have some kind of automatic exposure system at least.

Will you show us a couple of your Isola images? After reading that you were putting a film through it, I recalled having one in a box somewhere. I found it, but it is an Isoly, does 4x4 on 120 film. I loaded a roll and will try it out if it brightens up. EDIT: it's a Jsoly.

I stuck a couple in the show us your film shots thread but here's a couple more.

Got a new monopod so it could be steadied for another trip out. Of course I have no just found the Hama one I have had all along and I swear was invisible until an hour ago

Optimistically loaded a roll of film into the Praktica. Had a slight sNAFu with the battery being in the wrong way round so it was doing weird stuff. Correct way round and it seems ok. I copied the old one without thinking or checking. Doh!

Viewfinder seems clear and it looks like it's easy to focus and tell when it's ok. I haven't used a proper manual focus SLR since I had the Leica thing years ago. It's about the same weight and has a similarly unsubtle shutter

Looks like the lens on the B200 has a close focus nearly macro ability. Hadn't noticed. Shake in the viewfinder is very noticeable when the mirror moves. Not sure what effect that will have on any results. Working on the excuses already :)

B200 is a dud I think. The camera shake is appalling. It's on the naughty shelf now.

Second Isola arrived today. Noticed one on fleabay that had the 1/100th shutter speed so nabbed it.

Even got a fancy case on it!

This looks interesting from Lomography...

I can resist anything but temptation!

Hopefully it will be better to use than the Rollei 35AF... will wait and see what it is like. The £30 minolta is an absolute belter and hard to beat but if that expires then I might look at something new again.

Yes the Rollei looks like a disappointment (& I use an original) so let's hope this is much better..

I'm sorta house-bound after extensive hip surgery and do lotsa trading on eBay

after many many mis-delivered or lost items, I now refuse to buy if the seller uses Evri (voted the worst 2 years running )

Royal Mail have a 100% record to my farm cottage in rural SW Scotland

(now waits for adverse comments...........

Fun fact. Hermes was the patron God of thieves. Not that that has anything to do with Evri....

I'm not sure that sellers have a choice any more. I sold two items this week and all I specified when creating the listings was the size and weight of the packages, and eBay set the shipping price. I went to post them and one QR code was for Evri, the other for Royal Mail (which I only realised when the Evri label printer wouldn't recognise it :) ).

@FishyFish

FYI...i just asked a Seller to use Royal Mail for my order - and he replied

''Hi, I just realized I may not be able to choose royal mail when printing the label as my listing was setup to Evri Prepaid labels. I have now changed it to Royal mail, Could you please place another order and I can cancel and refund the current order if you are ok with that?''

so I guess it is possible

When eBay set up the new system there was a choice of shipping, using both Evri and RM, I cancelled the Evri option, and now only use RM, saying that, I had a delivery from Evri this morning and it arrived safely and in good condition.

I ordered 2 weird cameras from MW Cameras early October. Not arrived. Looks like all the negative reviews are bang on the money. Chased 3 times now and zero reply so I'm going to have to go to the card issuer over it. I cancelled the order after a fortnight of hearing nothing. It says in the terms they don't take the money until the item is ready to dispatch so that is clearly a lie as otherwise I'd have had it.

Guy is still shoving on new items but not actually sending out orders.

I,ve never bought anything from MW cameras, but I have ordered from them. 'Nuff said.

Me too, they still owe me a Canon rangefinder 135mm lens which I ordered about seven years ago.

It's a shame these companies go downhill, I've only dealt with them a few years ago now, ordered a Nikomat FT, it arrived in a few days from ordering it, from what I've heard there were two people in the company and one left, apparently the one that's running really is not upto the job.

I haven't listened to the video yet, but you used to be able to hire one of the half dozen made, which came with the necessary operators to do the hard work.

Thought I'd have to prod Lomo again but looks like they're organising sending out a replacement camera. They got mine last Friday and have updated the order thingy showing it today.

Hopefully that will arrive within the next week or so.

Been messing around with a Nikon 35AFii and a strange modern Olympus trip focus free compact thing. Gas is alive and well. Not sure the olympus is ok as the motorwind was kind of weird sounding on about every 8th or so frame. Sounded very slow and ponderous. It was rather cold out though so I do wonder if my usual shot gunning around was just too much for it and it needed a longer rest in between shots

Saw a video about the Minolta Riva Panorama so I want one of those now...

Decided to make use of previous GAS and have thought of a good project. Using the expired XP2 in the £20 Minolta 5000si with my old Sigma 28-300. I've still got about 5 rolls of the stuff that I bought a decade ago so it's time it got used up.

Been staring at the lomo tracking and the flipping thing doesn't seem to have moved since Friday lunchtime.
