Any one using this can you indicate if ok, have photoscape although not really into messing about with photos on pc was wondering if there is any one using that can confirm its plus points if any and its problems if any.
Maybe should put some effort into using these systems, might just enhance the final product.
Any information/feedback would be greatly received.
GEORGE.

It's my first port of call when editing. Quick to load up a folder of photos and step through to dump the useless ones. Plenty of editing options - about the only thing I can think of it doesn't have is layers.
But it's free, so why not try it out for yourself?

I've been using Faststone RAW file viewer a few years now. Handy to just open up and view the RAW files from folder to do your initial cull, without having to go into LR or PS. I don't do anything else with it really, but find it handy just for that purpose.

Thanks Charlie/Keith for response must admit had not heard of this one, have photoscape which my son downloaded for me way back 2010.Seems Faststone has a bit more bells/whistles on than photoscape. As mostly bird photos tend to shoot in jpeg then stick them on photoscape at present not even in any particular folder with only a date/location set up.
Suppose should be a bit more methodical would the know excactly where i am then. Once again thanks guys for your kind reply
GEORGE.

We actually promote Faststone when supplying images on disc to customers but ask them to donate £5-£10 to them for such a clever programme.
I show them how to use the slideshow bit and the other buttons and to date everyone is happy that they can view their images this way.

Is there any way of enlarging Faststone's interface font & icons - they're far too small for me.

Faststone also have a very useful resizing tool that is also free.

I thought the last time I looked that all of the functionality in the resizing tool is included in the batch tool in Viewer, but I may be wrong

Faststone is surprisingly powerful and very fast, so ideal for sorting, culling and quick edits - e.g. blemish removal or curves tweaks. It's not quite as speedy as Photomechanic but it is free. I rarely use the editing functionality but I invariably use it before importing into Lightroom.
