free photography website

at the moment i don't have the money to get a website built for me,

i want a website to put all my football photos,
so then i can send a link for it to like local newspapers,

does anyone know of any good free websites to put my photos on,

You can do a web gallery in Photoshop.
 
you could do a wordpress.com blog
 
looking at that now pete thanks,

i used to put my photos on a site called photopic but they went bust,
was a good site,
i had my own little webpage on there and was really easy to use and upload photos

if i was to use the web gallery tool in bridge cs5 it it just a case of buying a domain and then up loading the index page created by bridge?

No worries mate.

The reason i ask is i've just had a quick play with bridge cs5 and you can get some quite pleasing template results.
And if then all you need to do is upload the index page created it seems like a great way to make a cheap and good looking website.
 
well i need and website so when i contact newspapers saying i am from say maidens photography then i can send the link for the webpage and use a email address for that name
 
hey, i have a wordpress blog....
its quite handy lol i store all my photo's on it and ya can choose certain themes depending on whether you want it to be a gallery blog or a banter blog....

Website: Lots of free offerings from Wordpress and the like, usually with one click installs from many hosts - All you'd need to actually invest is a bit of time learning how to use Wordpress. There are 1000's of free themes available that you can use, all (mostly) without having to learn HTML, CSS or anything else.

You can also buy themes from many places from $35. Themeforest being one of note.

I have rented space on a a web server and that's what I do - in a different directory for each client.

I'm sure as i progress into using a website more and more i can change how i use it, but for the moment i just one an easy site to share my pictures - mainly with friends and family.

Can i upload multiple indexes to create different sections on the same website?
 
matt just downloaded wordpress its in my documents how do i open it,
it is a file if i click on it it opens loads of other files like,

licence,
read me,
wp- adin
 
You can create different directories and each one will look for an index.html inside it.
 
Wordpress needs to be run on a PHP server (usually a linux based hosting package will be fine)

Wordpress requirements

You can setup your computer as a server, if you want to play about with it before shelling out for a hosting package, using something like xampp (which is my preferred choice). You will need to read the docs that come with it to make sure you know how to use it though, otherwise it just won't work :)
 
you guys are talking about writing a site using the wordpress download from word press.org - my intent as the op wanted a free site was that he should use the wordpress.com blog site to create a simple site

the latter remains hosted on the wordpress server and is completely free - though you can pay $17 per year to have a unique url
 
I was kind of hoping this thread was going to be about a web site about Free Photography, like Free Running (AKA parkour)...

That could be quite cool. :)

You can open a free blogsite at blogger.com or wordpress.com then do your job :thumbs:
