Noticed whilst reading the magazine (after read the article about Pete or course) that they are offering some pretty good gifts if you subscribe.

I am very tempted to go for the Crumpler Pretty Boy XL offer, as this bag seems to retail at about £35 and the subscription is £40.

So anyone in the market for a new bag and an interest in what seems like quite a good mag, it might be worth a look.

Thank you for the link Jimmy :)

I was just about to order a Crumpler XL so went for this instead

hehe I had been looking at one for a while too :)

Just trying to work out what the Tamrac bag is that they offer, but it doesnt seem to be very specific :(

Id like to know what the bag can fit.

I have 30D with handstrap and grip. Kit lens, Sigma 70-300, Nifty Fifty, and 430.

Yeah some seem to call it the 4000, but others seem to call the 4000, the XXXL...Im confusslated.

Took the words out of my mouth.

Subscribed on the 30th, and bar an email confirming my order, I've had nothing since - it did say allow 28 days though, I'm just being impatient as usual :bonk:

Out of interest, do you get any choice of what colour you get - or if you don't, what colour do you get?

I'm hoping it's a black bag like the picture. Expecting them to send it out with Decembers mag I think November issue has already been.

Has any one got this bag yet and if so what will fit in it
Bob

It's a shame that the International subscription is twice the price and no bag. Poo!

I did this last year but by the time they go to mine the Crumpler was sold out and I got the Tamrac instead. It's a good size and a good bag but not the Crumpler I wanted.

I have the crumpler XL and it only really fits my DSLR with lens attached. Very good bag though just for around town or whatever when all you want to take is the camera and one lens.

Although i only paid about 25 quid for mine and having looked on the net it seems more likely I have the L, not XL. So if it helps the L only really fits 350D with Sigma 17-70 attached.

Was hoping it would take a bit more than that:shrug: Oh well its too late now Ive ordered 12 months worth Its still a good read so nothing lost really
Bob ;)

I wouldn't trust crumplers description on what can actually fit, as i have a crumpler pretty boy maxi XXXL (7500), which is the largest out of all the models. Crumpler claim, 2 x bodies, and 4-6 lenses. Unless they were referring to 2 x Nikon D40, and 6 x 50mm f/1.8, it doesn't hold anywhere near that :p :p see my review here

The crumpler pretty boy maxi XL is 7inches less wide than the XXXL, and crumpler suggest 1 body + kit lens + one other lens (i imagine something similar to the 50mm f/1.8 size).

Wohoo my bag arrived this morning. It is a tad smaller than I was hoping, but still fits enough for a trip out with the camera. Managed to get 350D+grip+kit lens, 50mm, 10-20 and 430 flash :) - its a bit snug but works well! and the strapped feels very nicely padded etc.

Pics? (With stuff to compare to ;)) pwetty please :)

Cant find my IXUS marcel :( so cant get any shots with camera in! ooo unless I use video camera.

Ok can't find IXUS, so had to take some pics on video camera (1 mega pixel is lovely!)

1. The bag looks small from the outside, but you can cram a fair bit into it!
(left - Canon 430 speedlight / Centre - Canon 50mm 1.8, with sigma lens cloth on top, with Sigma 10-20 on top of that / Right - Gap for camera)

2. Scale of 350D with grip. The kit lens is down the hole on the right (above) with the grip resting on the rear cap of the 10-20. There is room under the lens (as the 18-55 isnt very long) to put a filter holder, moo cards etc.

3. Bag closed. The velcro doesnt reach but the plastic buckle isnt at full stretch. There is a slight gap exposing the side of the 350 at the top, however.

So, it isn't huge, but it seems to hold enough for me to go on a wander with my camera :) and I probably wouldnt take the flash that often so it would all fit a lot more easily without that! (may even be able to squeeze the Sigma 70-300 in with the flash out)

My bag arrived this morning:woot: agree its a bit smaller than I hoped for but for free and every day use it looks ok :thumbs:No mag yet though :'(
Bob

I quite fancy meself a crumpler pretty boy and went into a local camera shop to look over them, lucky they had the whole range in (but too expensive).

They are all smaller than you would imagine, especially being as the largest is called the XXXL (I would have expected this to hold a small monkey to operate the camera too). I have a 1D and this is really the only one that will fit it properly.

So its on me xmas list (and I will be most upset if she forgets it ;) )

I got the December issue of the mag this morning :)

me 2 :)

Anyone got theier Tamrac bag ?

Mines at teh post office waiting to be collected :)

Andy

Got my bag aswell :) I think it's ideal for walking around with. I don't usually buy mags much but it's pretty good, the article on pete's work was excellent and his photos looked fantastic.

Petes photos ? Didnt see them yet where are they ?I got my mag yesterday too seems quite a good read
Bob
