Free Anti Virus software, Not Avast though ?

Not that I've had a problem with Avast, I've used the program for 12 months, but now that my 12 months is up, they want me to pay.

Are there any other free ones out there that you can recommend ?
 
I've been using avast for about 5 years for free. All you have to do is re-register your product for another license key.
 
I've just removed AVG and am now trying Microsoft's own.
So far, it seems ok. Small footprint, not overly intrusive.
 
avira is pretty good for free anti virus software. Has a pretty high detection and kill rate

Yup they just make you register every year. If your happy with it you should stick with it! (:
 
I use AVG, never had any issues at all.

Do you by any chance bank with Barclays?
If so, and you have online account access you can get Kaspersky for free, I believe it's very highly regarded.
 
HSBC give you mcafee free if your a customer, but then mcafee is a horrible peice of bloated software thats excesively intrusive and cant just sit their and update itself on its own half the time, its very needy
 
I'm on Avast here, apart from having to re-register (it is only once a year after all) it has been pretty hassle free. Though tbh, the reason i have it is its hassle free nature, unlike AVG which seems to update just about every time you turn the computer on, and requires mouse inputs to do so.....
 
I've been recommending avg since bill gates was in diapers. But I've recently binned it and now use Avira.
