fraud - beware

Why would not recieving cash in your hand be unsafe on an items that can't be more than 6 months old and sells for just under £3000 new.
If you pay be bank transfer or paypal for that amount your not protected. I could be jumping the gun, but I suspect a fraud myself.

I wouldn't pay cash or take cash on ebay for such an expensive item. So to say it is a scam is very much "jumping the gun a bit" as hypnotic says.

It's hard to tell, they are too cheap to be true, I have sold dearer stuff on ebay and personally prefer cash on collection, but the alarm bells ring at the reply to the question something about the wording rings nigerian ie: "thank you" and "sir".
I have sent an email asking some questions and will see what the response is.

If you study the picture carefully I think there are three or four different models, 1DS mkII, 1DS mk1, 1D mkII and I'm not sure about the other one but I don't think any of them are a mkIII.

If they are £1295 each why would I want to pay £5500 for 4, surely the lot should be cheaper not dearer

Looks like 2 x 1Ds and 2 x 1Dns

Blurb says he accepts cheques, but he won't take cash? foolish.

I wonder if he'll ship to my brother in Nigeria.

Just had a reply, English was quite good, they won't use an escrow service, I can pay by transfer or paypay and then collect (yeah right)

These are replies to my question re a cash transaction.
I also noticed the different models there.

But I dont know if you are really going to pay, I had this problem before. Sorry

Thats the best thing about Ebay things are to good to be true, you find every thing at a cheap price thats why you dont go to the shop and buy it. Right/Wrong? and sorry I had this problem before, this guy wanted to mug me. I only accepct paypal, once the payment is made and cleared your more than welcome to come and pick it up.
All Payment must be made via Paypal to: Kenkojin@hotmail.com and you must be Verified. Thank You

I've put an item on ebay that I thought was worthless, I was gonna put a £15 (fifteen) buy it now price, just to get rid of it. With 15 hours still to go, its at £120. But I doubt this bloke has no idea as to the value of the cameras.

He just emailed me back
1 Canon EOS-1D Mark III Digital Camera
2 Canon EOS-1D Mark II Digital Camera
1 Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital Camera

I have a feeling that the cameras may be genuine, but his explanation as to how he aquired them is a porkie. If I had sold a busines, given the value of the hardware, I would have sold them too.

Actually, it's a risk free purchase if you are prepared to collect. You could inspect the camera, and paypal it on the spot, or pay cash.

Using the buy it now feature, would not affect your feedback if the item was never paid for or delivered, because if this turned out to be an 'iffy' auction, no negative feedback would be left, or even if it was, Ebay, given the circumstances, would cancel it.

In the picture showing the two camera bodies from the rear, the one on the right is definitely a 1D MK3.

I personally think this is a clever scam or a not very clever seller, his english uses too much Nigerian style grammar.
Here is the reply I got to asking if I can pay by paypal on the spot when I collect, he has already said he wont take cash on collection.
Well at least a refundable deposit would be fine because I have other customers that want to buy aswel. This is because I know you are going to buy. Many Thanks for understanding

Aye. It rings bells for me. Just doesn't ring true at all.

No comment on it being a scam or not... not even looked TBH.

but the comments about paying cash.
I assume none of you questioning this have ever been had when buyers come to pay cash for something and leave with both the goods and the cash ?
It happens! So that part alone means nothing really. And paying by Paypal and then collecting is no different to paying by Paypal anyway and no-one questions that method.
