300mtrs down, no problem! We already live over old coal seams only a couple of hundred feet down.
Yes but I'm assuming you were aware of that when you chose your property. What I dislike about these proposals is the absence of choice.

It's fine. Nothing to worry about. NIMBY mentality, I wouldn't give a t055 either way
Colour me shocked![]()
Not everybody agreesIt's fine. Nothing to worry about. NIMBY mentality, I wouldn't give a t055 either way
It's not so much what goes on directly beneath your house, but what might come out elsewhere as the chemicals get into the water table.
Its totally fine, not something to worry about. Certainly, not something, since speaking to someone who really understands and works with it, that would worry me.
The Texas family who were awarded damages against a fracking company would disagree:

Fair enoughI would be totally ok with it near me, as I would be with a Nuclear station or Windfarm.
I do think that before too long there is likely to be a breakthrough in making nuclear based energy cheaper, safer and feasable on a personal use level.

Fracking as a legitimate technique to extract gas has been around for decades. Something like 70 years - and 50 years in the UK I think. It's only come to the fore recently because the great unwashed have little else to whinge about. No longer can they protest about cruise at Greenham Common, Poll Tax or fox hunting. Loathsome oiks.
Where's me water cannon?

They've moved onto fracking, CO2, halal meat, bull fighting and Foie Gras.
Miserable people complain about great things.
BBC news last night quoted the companies stating that any house they frack under would receive £20,000 compensation each, now whilst this sounds great ask yourselves why would a company freely give that sort of money away if theres was no problem drilling
Kind Regards

Hmmmm good point I wonder if it really is?Probably because the gas is under your property hence it sort of is "yours". Hence some compensation for that gas is fair
Hmmmm good point I wonder if it really is?
And would "ownership" actually stand up in court?
As you can bet your bottom dollar, that there will be far more than 20K's worth if they are going to extract it![]()
I'm against Nuclear energy only because of the fallout side of things, we barely know how to correctly store the waste at the moment. Plus it is a short term plant in terms of the longevity of output. I prefer wind farms, I would personally rather see a white turbine than knowing that the air my kids will breathe in the future is getting dirtier.
There are soo many renewable energy patents stored away - bought by energy providers so that they can't be monopolised out of the market etc. I just don't think it's fair with what state we are in, completely controlled by large corps making profits so they have power to dictate and flood the market......
From what I remember, Shell owns most of the worlds renewable energy patents and are kept under lock and key so that people can't use them![]()
I could do but as they are hardly likely to do it under my house,You could read the full law article and tell us if its different. .
It maybe an urban myth but on some talk show or other (May have been Radio 2 with Jeremy Vine)let's get realistic. Wind turbines have NO chance to supply all our electricity any time soon. .

The point was made that it take's more energy to produce a "windmill" than that windmill can every produce in its "life span"
I love those quirky anecdotes![]()
Who know's in all honesty, the Pro's and anti's all have their "pet figures"I wouldn't mind to see some research articles about it. It may be similar to electric cars. ....
Pun intentional Lynne?? We are , after all , an Island , surrounded by the dam stuff !
I wonder what rights you have to sign away to get the 20k?BBC news last night quoted the companies stating that any house they frack under would receive £20,000 compensation each, now whilst this sounds great ask yourselves why would a company freely give that sort of money away if theres was no problem drilling
