Unbelievable.

I dunno, darned bikers deserve everything they get if you ask me ;)

kidding, honest!!

Not good

We lost our friend to someone pulling out on him last year. If it had have been a car he might have survived :'(

To be honest looking at the way the car was lurching, I'd hazzard a guess that the car was breaking down and he was trying to get off the road to the layby.

thats what i thought, i think 'unfortunate' would have been the word id use rather than "idiot" by the looks of it hes simply trying to get to the hard shoulder after breaking down, and its just unfortunate that the biker was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nice to see all the caring people at the bus stop run over to help! The guy walking along on the right with his shopping didn't even seem to flinch.

Also a biker rider here and have had many close calls where I managed to just miss such an accident. :(

Putting my neck on the block here but.....

Being a biker myself, I reckon that the bike was going far to fast for the wet conditions and the rider should have seen the potential hazard further back down the road.

It could well have been that the car was breaking down and had nowhere else to go.

I hate seeing bikers having accidents, but I also hate seeing poor riding standards too.

I agree.

'poor obs' to coin a phrase.

the bike was doing a good job of braking just before impact as his rear wheel was off the road, it looked like he had atleast 5 seconds warning of what was happening and may have been able to do something earlier.

as always we dont know the true full picture.

A workmate's brother was killed late last year on a dual carriageway. He was coming up fast behind a van and went to overtake. Because of a slight bend in the road he couldn't see the road ahead properly because of the van. What he didn't see was one of those motorway maintenance lorries with the big flashing arrows and buffer on the back. He unfortunately rode his bike at speed straight into the back of the lorry. Don't think he had time to brake and he was killed instantly.
Yes he was speeding but it was all a series of unfortunate events, if he'd have been travelling at the speed limit, would the outcome have been any different?

He might have had enough time to react and save himself, he'd have been better off staying back far enough to see past the van. To be honest with the acceleration even a modest bike has there's no excuse for driving that close to the back of another vehicle that you can't see past it.

It wasn't a case of being too close to the van it was the unfortunate combination of the bend in the road and a stationary lorry in the outside lane. Had it been a smaller vehicle such as a car with windows he would probably have seen the lorry in the outside lane.
