Found my grandads old slr equipment

Hi guys

I just wondering if my grandads equipment is worth selling to fund helping me buy myself a dslr?

If its not worth anything I will just keep it all I have a small bit of info due to me been a novice so sorry if I get it wrong this is what I have found:

Olympus Om2 body
Tamron sp 70-210mm cf tele macro lens
Tokina at-x 28-85mm lens
Centon f.g.3.0 lens

Would the lenses be worth keeping could I use them on a modern camera?

Yes you can get an adapter ring to convert the olympus mount - at least for the main ones like canon and nikon.
You'll have to focus manually but the lenses can still get good results and will be useful if you got a dSLR with just the kit lens or even body only.
You do have to be a bit careful with some old manual lenses as there are combinations which can foul the mirror, however Olympus is generally OK.

Great thanks for the reply maybe worth keeping the lenses then I suppose I am looking at getting a Nikon or a canon at the minute I have seen a used canon for sale local but doing a lot of reading and enjoying seeing people's pictures :clap:

I'd have fun playing with it and trying to use it instead, head over to the Film section and get stuck in I'd say ;) :thumbs:
 
SO if I get a 28mm OM lens and an adaptor how would if fair on my 20D? Still x1.6 because of the sensor? Any good for landscapes?

It will be a nice walkabout lens with that focal length.

As to landscapes.. I've never found a lens that's a bad lens for landscapes, it's all down to how you look at the landscape. Someone that only uses a wide-angle for landscapes has a very narrow view of landscapes..

I think you will find that is the opposite :)
