Found an old, apparently exposed, 35mm film cartridge. Worth getting processed?

Found a 24 exposure C-41 colour cartridge in the back of a drawer. I last shot film nearly 20 years ago. It has been in a dark and cool place (but not in a canister) so is it worth getting processed, or am I flogging a dead horse?

I have absolutely no idea what may be on there!

I did something similar from my very first camera when I dug it out a couple of years back. The film was definitely at least 15 years old but was fine. I got some pictures back from a holiday to Cornwall when I was about 10 :)

For the relatively low cost I'd be desperate to find out, asda seems the cheapest now I think. They still have 1 hour processing too :)

Thanks for the quick reply Andy, and the encouraging words.

As you say, for the sake of a few quid I've nothing much to lose. I am quite interested to know what is on there I must admit.

It could be ok, worth a couple of quid at asda I think. Ive bought a couple of cameras with film in and I managed to get images from them, the oldest seemed to be from the early seventies.

Should be fine, i got a roll developed recently that expired in 2002 and was in a camera i'd got from rocky cameras, so lord knows how that was handled, came out fine, grainy and magenta tinted but easily corrected and looks ok.

Its your money, but I would be curious more than anything else.

Your call at the end of the day.

OK. Will do. I am intrigued I must admit.

I see that Asda get mentioned but I don't have a branch nearby, so any suggestions as to where to send it? Do branches of Tesco or Boots still do processing or is it a post it away job?

Tesco superstore might do it on a send away service....but don't think any filmies here have used it.

Try your local Boots, although the Boots web site doesn't seem to admit to film processing these days.

Personally, I would send to Filmdev or Photo Express, both have a £5 minimum charge, so you can get processing and a medium res scan for that price. Without a canister it should be able to go large letter size, so that's just under a pound. Post them tomorrow or Tuesday, they'll be back by the end of the week!
