Hi,

My neighbour has a 'Fotostop' film that she wants to get developed, she has tried the local shops and most of them have said they don't develop this kind of film any more. One does do it but said it will be about £30 which seems excessive. Does anyone know if there's anywhere she could get it developed at a more reasonable price? I'm not sure exactly what kind it is, the box says 'Fotostop HPX 200' and that it needs Process C-41.

Any help appreciated.

Well C41 is just the standard colour neg process that all minilabs are doing.

What type of film is it, I'm guessing that it's not a standard 35mm roll, does it have any other numbers on it?

Thanks for replying. I'm not sure what kind it is really as I've only ever used digital. Its not a standard 35mm roll

It says 110/24, 110 Colour Film and K613 (think that's the batch number or something?).

Here's what it looks like if that helps

That could be quite tricky to get done. You could probably find a helpful minilab somewhere that would process the film without too much trouble but getting prints is going to be much harder.

Also, as you can see the film was taken out of the camera at frame 21 and not wound all the way to the end, so there is a chance that the few frames before that one might be ruined. :(

Oh the shame..... I'd posted in the thread too. :amstupid:

At the bootie Sunday I bought 5 rolls of fotostop 200 ISO, 35mm film, 36 exp, 2008 for £1 (the stickers on the boxes is £3.95 ea), anyway it's Konica centuria and I've used it before but can't remember the results, so OOD Konica film is something to play with and hope Asda know how to scan this make of film ;) Also have a roll of Centuria 200 dated 2002 ....h'mm might be useful for testing lenses.

If you want to get 110 developed, the best place I've found is here http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/110FilmProcessing.html as they do it for a reasonable price (total of ~£15 including there and back postage, 6x4 prints and scans) unlike most places that charge a fortune. Their service is very good, but when you order I would ask for 5x4 prints on the form as otherwise you'll lose some of the top/bottom (I've asked this every time that I've used them and they've always obliged).

The place linked in the above post (Process C-22) will do 110, but I would expect you to not get the results for several months as they always have a backlog for nearly all of their film types - their service is also more expensive due to its specialised old photo recovery nature.

EDIT: Sorry didn't notice this was all the way back from 2009!

They'll be able to scan it Brian, minilabs are setup to have details of how to scan very nearly every sort of film from within about the past 20 years, and if it doesn't recognise it then there will also be a "default" option that usually gives a good result with most types.

Yes you must be right, but yanno Samuel being a person with a suspicious mind:- Fuji machine, Fuji chemicals (Fuji print paper) works best with what film......;) Anyway most of the scans from Asda need some sort of correction and the usually error is because they are too bright, maybe the machine is set up for prints.

Stop making excuses and just do it Brian.

Brian, the C-41 standard is exactly the same across all of the manufacturers be it Kodak (C-41), Fuji (CN-16), Agfa (AP-70) or Konica (CNK-4). Their all called different things by the respective manufacturers, but are exactly the same and will give the same end result.

Also the mini-labs are not setup for prints or scans, they do the exact same thing for both seeing as the prints originate from the scans anyway. If you want good quality scans then go somewhere reputable and pay for good quality developing and scans. Like Rob says, stop making excuses and just do it.

:D I'm doing my best but have run out of subjects to shoot, maybe I should start doing selfies

Well I found some examples of Konica Centuria 200 that I took about 3 years ago and it wouldn't have been fresh film and I think the car results are spot on for all colours and also was testing a Vivitar 28-85mm
