Anyone had any dealings?

I ordered a Stealth reporter D650AW on Boxing day online which was "In stock", I had payment confirmation via paypal but still to date nothing from them. They offer items as they "usually gets shipped same day if order is before 2pm" which it wasnt and with the xmas break I expected some delay. However, Still nothing from them regards email or bag. I rang yesterday and they acknowledged the order and the bags were coming in stock today (yesterday when I rang) which I wasnt happy about due to ordering when it was "in stock" and was told Id get confirmation email to say its shipped later that day. I still havent had that email, Still no bag and £97.00 down.

Ive rung them today and office is shut (prob due to weather)

Should I be worried?

I've bought from them before, it's usually best to order by phone rather than on the web site as their site is often not up to date on stock levels. Can't think why they'd be shut today unless the weather where they are is very bad.

I have used them in the past, very nice to deal with and very prompt with my orders.

I have used them before and found them ok. I live close to their premises and so can call in when I want to look at an item. They don't always carry all items in a range (altho last time I called in before Christmas they had a lot of Lowepro bags on display) but they are a small friendly helpful group - seem to be family run.
Premises are small warehouse with a display area as part of a small warehouse estate - given the weather up here, with a particulary large snowfall on Monday/Tuesday night, i imagine that they would have trouble getting into premises even yesterday.

Always been good for me... suspect the weather!

Good choice of bag by the way.. I love mine!

Check the rear pockets thoroughly... I got mine reduced from the local camera shop and thought it did not have a shoulder strap until I found it 3 months later... I'm such an idiot! :)

Thanks for replies guys. Still no word from them or no bag, Im now on day 13 and considering it offers next day delivery Im not too impressed and would sure to advise against using these to anyone. I understand about item stock etc but they really should have "live" stock count online in this day and age. If it was out of stock I would have gladly paid another £7 and got from Jessops. (for record I used them as I knew I couldnt get to Jessops that week between xmas and new year)

Tried phoning again?

Yep, I rang on Tuesday and spoke to lady who assured me Id have the bag by Friday. Ive rung everyday since. Wed and Thurs it went straight to recorded message saying they were closed (probably due to weather and I can accept that). I rung Fri and today and its automated message saying due to large volumes of calls etc please try later.

The things that have riled me is.....
Says in stock but wasnt.
No confirmation of order being placed or when I expect item (although they have on Tuesday verbally).
next day delivery. I expected delays for xmas and bad weather but its now Day 14.

Amateur company with very poor customer service/relations

It's not the first time stock problems have cropped up with them which is why I mentioned above about ordering by phone. The bad weather may have delayed their inbound delivery too but you've no chance to find out until Monday now.

Totally appreciate your frustration, if you spoke to them on Tuesday and they were shut Wed / Thursday - weather has been poor up here, I would have expected them to post it on Friday when they were back in, so I'd hope you should get your bag early next week.

I'd be on the phone Monday, ensuring they did post it on Friday, I think I'd also be looking for my postage to be re-embersed as a good will gesture if nothing else.

Hope you get it sorted

They used to state on their website to not trust the online checker, and to ring up and check before travelling down (and I assume, ordering online).

But to promise you delivery on the phone, then it not turn up isn't acceptable. I've shopped there before. Nice woman on the counter (its about a 20 min drive from me), but like said, it's not the first time their website 'stock count' has come into question.

just to let you know, Fotosense is down a road called water meetings road that leads to a place called the valley, it is at the bottom of a hill and with the really bad gritting and snow clearing that Bolton council haven't done the place is almost inaccessible. I called between Christmas and new year after the snow had almost gone and the car park area was like an ice rink and about 2" deep which was strange as everywhere else was almost clear. after the 2nd lot of snow I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to get there.

I'm going down there this week as I need to get my head for my new tripod.

That's my point John. I've stated twice I'm allowing for bad weather and Xmas break. It's no excuse not to acknowledge an online order or the falsely state in stock when it wasn't. I looked last night and the same bags are showing in green "in stock". None of that is affected by the non gritting process, you was there between Xmas and new year so it could of been procesed then but wasn't, I rang in new year and was open and still not acknowledged online order. Very poor

I ordered a pair of 'Lowpro Camera Gloves' 29th dec.
Order confirmed.
Phone states office hours, no answer to e-mails.

Unfortunately it is a sign of the times, everyone lists items as in stock but doesn't actually have them, I ordered 2 wii motion plus things from zavvi way before Christmas they eventually arrived on the 7th, site said in stock reality was the opposite. I went to Scan yesterday and they had items I wanted listed as in stock but no they didn't have them. Jessops listing all the cheap stuff they wanted shut of people ordering online to be told they don't have them when they turn up to the store. Part of the thing is that companies can usually order from their suppliers and have it shipped direct or get it in next day the bad weather has affected supply chains either courier companies over loaded and unable to get round in time or people not in work to process the orders at either end of the chain.

But saying something will be shipped and doesn't get shipped really annoys me I would rather be told straight that it will be next week or when ever.

Well, Spoke to them finally today, Item was posted with Parcel Force on Friday so should have it today or tomorrow they say, We will see.

UPDATE**

Bag arrived on Tuesday and was absolutley massive, Far to big for what I needed it for and obviously not Fotosense fault, I had chose that particualr bag. Anyway, I went in person today to change the bag for something smaller. The lady that worked there was a real pleasure, So helpful, Bringing bag after bag for me to look at and try out (as I took my gear with me). Opening bags up, Offering advice on best sellers etc, Real nice lady. Her son and I had good chat (pretty much about the downfall of Liverpool Football) and too was very polite and helpful. Its seems there 1 to 1 customer service was very very good in person and I now accept maybe going in person to choose a bag was the best idea. I stand by they should have better stock system in place online in this day and age but would also advise anyone if possible, Get in there shop, Fantastic little place and real nice people. Its the online bit that lets them down. Overall, Would defo use them again but just not online.

Ive now purchased Lowepro Magnum 200AW, Still a great size and being one of lowest numbers in range, ie. 200aw, 400aw, 600aw etc I wouldnt have entertained it based on sizes without going in to try my gear in it. Well made up with it

Thats the exactly the same experiance I have had in their shop was it the older lady? She can't do enough for you. I felt really bad as she kept bringing bags out forme to try when I went looking for bags. I ended up ordering my stuff from Warehouse express as their prices were better, fotosense had agreed to price match but they only had the older version of the manfrotto 80cm tripod bag and I prefered the black and red new version.

There's your problem Asterix! they were too busy being nice to customers calling in person!

I ordered a lighting kit from them today, I spoke with them on the phone and had prompt email responses. Their prices are v good!

Hi everybody, as you can tell im new here. but just came across this regarding fotosense.

my misses works there and its her family that owns it. im gonna get them onto this thread as i think it may be some interest to them so they can see what the customer thinks of their service etc.

what i will say is they have had new sites built a couple of times as the stock calculator is garbage, secondly there is one guy in the office by the name of jim who couldnt care less and nothing but a pain in the arse unfortunately. But if you ever want a honest answer ring up and ask for Katrina and mention my name and say you spoke to me on here and hopefully she will help you as much as possible. its even got to the point where shes having to reply to emails whilst shes at home as theres such a back log.

hopefully help rebuild the faith with fotosense and keep some deals going. may even get a cheeky discount

cheers

Just purchased a 10 stop filter from them, ordered over the phone. Very helpful, and was delivered the next day.

Full marks from me.
