Yes
As everyone no doubt knows F1 is being covered by the BBC this year, and having seen the "best car chase in the world" ad's they're runing at the moment, at the end of the ad is the F1 title music, for those of us who remember the last time round the Beeb covered F1. This music, for me, opitimizes F1.

Does anyone know what the music is? I think it was by Fleetwood Mac but i can't find it any where:shrug:.

Can anyone help?

Song was called 'The Chain' the bit they use comes in about 2/3 the way through if I remember correctly.

Can't wait for the new season to start. I wasn't all that happy with ITV's coverage last season, especially the screw ups. I've only been a F1 fan over the past 2 years though mainly because to me it seems like the excitement and competitiveness has increased through various initiatives the governing body has introduced. Hopefully this season will be the best yet. Glad the new points system has been deferred for another year. Sounds a bit ridiculous to me.

Yep, as Jimmy says, it's called the chain and is from Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album, one of the best albums ever made IMHO. He's also spot on that the theme comes from the last third of the song.

I am scared how spot on I got it to be honest. Just had a listen to it on Spotify and a 4:30 track and the F1 bit comes in bang on 3:00 :o spoooky!

Thanks for that, it was driving me nuts that i couldn't find it, it's probably because its 2/3's of the way through that i could'nt find it(only listening to the sample you get on i-tunes):bonk:

Yep, The Chain.

There would have been a huge outcry if they didn't use it...

Yeah i agree, but the big Question is are they wheeling Murray Walker out of retirement

i wrote to the bbc when they announced that they had the coverage and gave them my opinion--- That they should definitely use the chain as their theme music and that the should definitely NOT employ james allen....!

i read in the autosport mag that bbc might be playing three films over easter created by Mark Stewart about 3 british f1 champions.... Jim Clark, Graham Hill and of course his dad, Jackie.

they;ll be well worth looking out for!

I knew about the Jim Clark one didn't know they were re-running the other two, I'd missed those.
The Jim Clark one is being aired on BBC4

I didn't realise the JYS one was the same as came with the book. I have that one then. Looking forward to the other two then.

although now im not so sure. the dvd sleeve doesnt give many clues.

nil - have you see a video from the 70's about jackie stewart that follows him around a race weekend in monaco? its a great watch, ive got a copy of it on VHS but god knows where it is. it also has some 1930's grandprix racing on the end with the autounions and mercs

Don't think so, I do have a Jackie Stewart Video given away with Motorsport magazine years ago, never got around to watching it for some reason though. I'll have to try and find it.
I'm looking forward to the Easter weekend BTCC at Brands Hatch and these programmes on TV too. Who needs eggs.

Apologies if it's well known and/or mentioned elsewhere but....I've just stumbled across some classic F1 footage,Australian GP's as it happens, being shown on the red button

Time to say I want Murry Walker back at the helm

I must say, it will be nice to get things back as they were, ITV made too much of a circus of it all, not to mention the breaks at the most inconvenient times.

Watch a MotoGP, or even better, a World Superbike race. That's really competitive racing :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what the BBC do with F1. The lineup looks good, and I'm very pleased that Martin Brundle is still doing commentary, rather than being a studio pundit as was originally planned. Unfortunately they can't do anything about the generally poor coverage of the races themselves, that's all controlled by Mr B Ecclestone...

i noted in autosport last week 'f1 will not be broadcast in HD, but this is not the fault of the bbc'

seems bernie is keeping hold of the HD cards....

aw rubbish! was hoping it would be. Wonder who they sold exclusive HD rights too then?

Watched the Australin GP where mansalls tyre explodes before. It was great :D

It certainly wasn't great as it cost him the title, but it was spectacular to watch.

Is anyone staying up to watch the practice, its on BBCi at 1.30am, booked the day off work just so i can watch it live.

Do you know if it's going to be live streamed online? I can't seem to find it on the bbc site

red button for practice and warm-ups i think..

bernie has got HD up and running yet i dont think

Seems its nothing to do with Bernie or the BBC. Both want it in HD however it won't change just because of one broadcaster, they need more providers to agree to make the full change including the cost of equipment and the infrastructure required for HD. There is speculation that HD may appear towards the end of 2009 and for the start of the 2010 season.

I have to say, i thought the Beeb did a not bad job overall. I like " pundits corner" with DC and EJ, they haven't quite struck up a rapport, but it'll be interesting to see how this develops through out the season:lol:

It's funny all through out the race, after the commentaters listed the running order i expected the ad's to come on:bonk:
