Just as a test, I put a new, unused Toshiba 4gb card in my camera. It formatted in just a couple of seconds. The frame count went up from the default 765 to 788.
Formatting new cards before use.

Yes I am using the Format from the menu
Just done a 2Gb and the values comes up saying how make bytes it is, and it does it in about 3 seconds.
Can someone try a 4G in their 350D and let me know if it shows the byte values when formatting pls.
