I bought a few Formatt filters, but they all came in plastic sleeves, as opposed to Cokin filters that come in hard plastic cases.

Are these filteres sold without hard cases? If so, what do you use to store them safely?

Thanks for any feedback.

I have a few, and also asked them(formatt) about holders, and they didn't do anything then....
I still keep mine in the box they came in, so can't really offer any help, but would like to know if you do find anything. For what it is worth, they seem fairly resistant to scratching, as mine seem to be used often at the beach, in less-than-wonderful weather without damage so far.....

You say you keep yours in the "box" they came in! Mine didn't even come in a box, they came in a plastic sleeve and that was it!

What box are you talking about  ?

A cardboard box - I did order 5 or 6, plus a holder and an adaptor, and I am a flirt when talking to ladies over the phone - looks like my charms worked as well as usual then - I got a free cardboard box !

To be fair, I have aways kept mine in the plastic sleaves, and no problem, bit of a pain getting them in and out, but they can take abit of abuse.

You can buy filter wallets, check 7dayshop, I think they do them.

wail...cokin sell a lovely case for filters, well worth the £20 it cost me to protect over £100 worth of filters:thumbs:

Thanks Stant. I have this, but I was a bit dissapointed when I got the Formatt to see that they come in such easy-to-break plastic sleeves vs. Cokin which are not much less expensive but come in better quality cases.

Thanks, but I was ust wondering in case something was wrong with the sets I got!

Somehow I expected a better case for these to come in.

I hear what you are saying Wail, but as PD Barbs says, the plastic cases do seem to last..
That said, I wouldn't mind something a little more 'proper' so let us know if you find anything that fits and suits !

I find the the plastic Cokin cases can actually cause abrasion where the two halves join, especially after bouncing around in a bag for a few months. My Cokin's all ended up with scraches around the center of the filter.

I prefer the plastic non-friction sleeves.

Intereting comment, and find, there puddleduck.

So, does that imply that you keep your Formatt filters in their plastic sleeves, or do you use something else?

well I don't think mine are Formatt (unless they make HighTech?) but yes I keep them all the sleeves.

The Cokin's come in semi-transparent cases, in two halves that are pressed together and all my Cokin filter set ended up with abrasions due to rubbing against the join. No impact on IQ, but they got tatty.

My Hightechs in the sleeves are still in good nick (apart from one, my fault, not due to the sleeve design!)

Formatt are Hitech AFAIK :)

And FWIW I hate those little sleeves for the hitech ones too and would be interested in an alternative. I find it qiute fiddly sliding them back in with cold hands. And am worried in case I have a bit of sand or seasalt stuck on the filter (i clean em once back home).

These are the daddies of filter cases from Lee Filters.
The cases are fully padded with velcro flaps and a clear panel on the top to insert a bit of paper with the filter type written on it.
Each case holds 1 filter.
These are excellent

Here is a picture of the case

Here is the case shown with a Cokin ND grad for size comparison

Dean:)

Ooo, I have one of those! Came with my polarizer adapter ring. Just need another 5 now... and then a bigger camera bag because they're so bulky!

Dean,

Do Lee ship out their filters individually with these cases?

Yes they do on certain filters. I got a load because i work for a filter company, unfortunately i havent many left, or you would all be getting them for xmas. Lee may sell them to you as seperate items. If not, we are approved suppliers so i might see if i can buy some through the firm. I will let you know.
Dean:)

Dean,

Now this is a very helpful thing you'll be doing . Thank you.

I hope you are able to source these for us, and that they come in very reasonable price. As a matter of fact, had I known Lee come in such pouches, I would have in most probability gone with Lee vs. Formatt. The price of these must outweigh the price difference, or at least bring them much closer.

As long as your using 100mm square filter system, im not aufait with Formatt filters so i dont know what size they are.
I cant promise anything on the case front, but can only try. Needless to say they will be at trade price.
Dean:)

68lbs,

Thank you for that link .. how did I miss that? I've bought from Robert White a number of times, silly me

Just as an aside - Cokin can afford to offer a plastic box because the quality of their filters is knocked into a cocked hat by the Formatt/HiTech ones. Cokin aren't Neutral but Grey Grad...Formatt are true Neutral...

Okay, i managed to source 4 of the Lee filter cases. 1 each to the first 4 people to PM me. Free of charge as a Xmas pressie.

Hey,

That is very kind of you to go to such length

Seeing that there is one left, which I can't believe giving how much these cost and how long it's been since you posted this ... PM sent :)

Okay Folks.
All the filter cases have now gone to new homes and will be posted next week.
These are.....
PUDDLEDUCK
WHITEFLYER
PD BARBS
REGGIE 747
WAIL.
Just to verify, these are the padded ones that hold 1 filter only, there seems to have been a little confusion over this. If this is not what you're after let me know.
Dean:)

Thanks Dean

Darn! I really should get up earlier. Will have to order one of those ones from RW now.

Right Guys, i havent forgot about you, just been really busy of late.
The cases have been jiffy bagged up and will be posted soon.
Sorry for the delay.
Dean:)

Dean it's Christmas I did not expect it until February at the soonest

Dino,

Again, thank you for arranging this, and no worries .. it is kind of you to go to this length :)
