Hi all,
I believe that Formatt filters and their holders are the same as HiTech, which I've heard good things about (please correct me if I'm wrong); I was originally going to get a cokin p holder and some Formatt filters, but there is a plastic filter on Formatt available. Has anybody had experience with this, or could suggest any reason why a Cokin holder would be better? Thanks all for your help.

I use COkin P holder because I already had it... and bought some new Hi Tech filters from Format. I only kept used the cokinP becausse I had it.

If i was starting fresh Id probably get a HiTech one.

Hi Janice,
Thank you for your help. I doubt there'll be much difference, just wanted to check.

..and all I can add is that Formatt/HiTech (one and the same) are so very helpful and friendly to deal with. I have a metal filter holder and adapter from them, plus a few filters, and when I ordered I asked loads of silly questions by email, got a phone call about 30 seconds after emailing, and as I was coming out to Spain 2 days later they got an adapter specially made for me and posted off at no extra cost. I was well impressed !

HiTech is a company that sells Formatt filters, I don't think they are the same company and you can buy direct from Formatt if you wish (that's how I did it, saved a tiny bit of money)

Both are excellent to deal with, and are very prompt and helpfull with any questions you ask. When I got my filters they only did the metal holder, so I went for a cokin one, works perfectly well enough.

Thanks all for the fast replies. I'll probably go ahead then.

Ok, having 'played' with a few sunsets am looking to invest in some of these. I have spoken to Formatt/HD about what I need and have been advised the wide angle holder and soft edged grads.

However, have been told I cant use a CP filter with the wide angle holder. Could this be a problem? I don't own a CP filter and wont be buying one at the mo, but am I likely to want to use one in conjunction with ND grads at a later date?
