Forgive me, for I have sinned

Cheapest I can find on-line is from Harrisons ... £529.99 with case and 4GB card...

Unless you know different... :naughty:

:p

Stephens Lieca dealership in Manchester Deansgate £525 and Jacobs in Cross Street will match that. Manager is called Nick :) That was with a leather case and a 4G card.

Somtimes you can get a better deal face to face than on t'internet. :)

Thanx Ali... ... I'm getting there... :suspect:

Might force me to get the D200 and stuff out... ...

... to sell it...

:p

Ali, you should get the accessory viewfinder. You don't take proper photos squinting at an LCD! I'm sure you have a birthday coming up soon ;)

What a gorgeous wee camera that D-Lux 4 is. Very desirable:)

I was a bit reluctant to take a D300 on a fairly frantic couple of weeks holiday to Canada & New York last year, so we invested in a Panasonic FX500. Great wide angle shots, very compact and full manual operation. Brilliant pocket phone.

lol, there is a Voigtlander that's half the price Hoppy,

got my eye on it because I do agree with you, I'm just not used to NOT having a viewfinder. The screen IS useful for macro though.......live view? Now there's a thought :) lol

 ... You would spoil that lovely D-Lux 4 with a nasty, horrible accessory like that... :suspect: ... You do not deserve it Ali... ... donate it to a me better cause... :naughty:

:p

lol Ven. As it stands I think you'd be welcome to it!

I tried installing the software today and although I did eventually figure out how to process an image to TIFF in Capture 1..........My PC then "forgot" how to print!

I've now had just about enough of my PC after the last debacle with a Cs3 upgrade and I'm currently backing up all my images (again) before I format the dratted thing!

It would honestly have been cheaper to take a sledge hammer to the PC and get a new one than invest the time in trying to "make" various software packages work with one another.

Here's a little example. Lieca have their own RAW file. OK, they provide the software for it so it should be fine. But...

The latest ACR supports the Leica format, great! But only for CS4. b****r!

So I have a file format that I can use in Capture 1 but not in CS3. OK so that means converting it. OK, I can live with that. I can always scan through the pics and only convert those I really want to work with, it's only one more step..........

Until the printing problem...

Why the heck can't manufacturers produce file format that actually work with existing software? And why can't adobe support them with versions of photoshop more than a nanosecond old?

One hard drive about to be formatted, I may be some time............................

Sorry to hear about your troubles...

Wondered why we hadn't seen any pics yet... :D

There's always another way Ali... :naughty:

:p

Was that 'with' the leather case? Just looked on the Jacobs site and can't see it now

It's gone up then I guess. I was talking to a girl on their stand at Focus about the LX3 and she was quite excited about the Leica. Now she did have a gorgeous smile and deep deep eyes but I'm fairly sure I managed to get the facts about right. She said that they didn't have any deals on for Focus but it did come with the case, which on it's own was priced at about £80 for £499 inc.

Given how fast prices are shooting up at the mo, £525 with a card sounds pretty good to me. :)

Next stop - Nikon - for a proper camera

I think you'll find that Nikon don't make any "proper" cameras. A real , or proper camera, shoots in a grown up format and does it with film or digitally. Anything less is just a toy, surely??? ;)

Does anyone know if any lens adapters are available for the Leica?

I've seen all the one available for the Pani LX3 and thought they might do them for the D LUX 4?

My research (which could be wrong!) suggested you have to use the Panasonic DMW-LA4E lens adapter on it.

Given that has a 46mm thread it will be ideal for this old Nikon WC-E68 I have here - giving a usable 16mm wide angle. And will hold my old FC-E9 fish eye for virtual panoramas. :)

Yes you can get wide angle and telephoto adaptors for them, I'll post the details when I get home :)

Sinned ???

A Canon user who's bought a point n shoot ???

Isn't that an upgrade rather than a sin :D

DD

What? You mean like the Nikon user I was teaching last night who didn't know that you need it in manual to change both the shutter speed and aperture independantly and was trying to change the shutter speed in aperture priority?

Oh THAT kind of point and shoot :)

Dam this thread for I has sinned too......:gag:....:bonk:......:woot:

Only went to have a look at the dam thing too  well thats what I told the wife....:suspect:

The two of you need to grow-up and realise that many others may follow your reckless actions :bat:

Congratulations on your new acquisitions :)

It is A LOT of money for a compact, there can be no doubt but it's a thing of real beauty and I've not seen anthing near it's size that can out perform it.

So, I applaud all this sining.:clap:

Did you HAVE to MrT... :suspect: ... and then go and gloat about it on here for heaven's sake...

:p

:clap::clap::clap:

ooooh congrats Mr T. It is indeed a thing of beauty :)

I've yet to post any images from mine thanks to a major PC meltdown which is taking days to rectify. (Not often I resort to formatting!) Thankfully I have all my images backed up anyway but once I get all sorted out and all my software reinstalled I'll get a few posted.

I had the pleasure of a guided tour round The Treasury Building today and unfortunately they don't allow cameras, no matter how damn sexy. lol

I bet its a great little camera! Compacts are fun no matter what people may say of them :)

Still saving my coppers for my M6

Or 499 squids without card... :D

Damn this is getting so hard to resist... :cuckoo:

:p

Patience oh green one.......... Got some architectural ones last couple of days and I'll get to posting some pics at the weekend. :)
