Fordpop's 52

Looks good to me  Look forward to seeing your photos.

Ok, here's my attempt at curves.

It was a bit rushed as I thought Sunday 3rd was the deadline - but it's done now, so this is it.......

It's a shot of atable decoration - a bit uninspired I realise, but thats the name of the game I reckon......to improve on gear like this!

C+C always welcome.

You're gonna get real miffed if "Numbers" comes out next week...

This looks old to me, dunno why, just has that feel. Texture nicely caught but I'd maybe like to see something a bit harsher - though I realise with the solid shadow in the centre you have just about gone as far as you could. A nice start that, the more I look, would maybe be OK in landscape too... not many pics you can say that about.

:agree:

I also agree that the texture has been caught very well. There's not much colour to it though, so it might lend itself better to a B&W treatment.

Also agree about flipping it or landscaping it. I can't figure out what it actually is, which keeps me compelled to look at it and try and figure it out.

Good luck with the rest of the weeks!

Ian.

I like the texture. Agree a mono would work well.

I rather like the textures in this.
Good start to the 52!-Look forward to seeing more :)

Hi Dave,

Good to see another new face on the 52s.
That's a really interesting shot and one that I want to keep looking at. What is that table decoration made from? Some really lovely textures there, but I can't quite work out what it is

I'd quite like to see a mono conversion on this too.
Not sure that the colours contributing much and you might get even more of that texture through in B&W.

(Out of interest, I'd also like to see a full shot of this decoration, just so that I can work out what I'm looking at )

Hi folks, thanks for the nice welcome and constructive comments...........I really appreciate it:)

The decoration is some sort of supple wood, to give you an idea of the size of it its about 3" long, with that '9' about 1/2" deep - and yeap 'numbers' better stay out the way for a while....;)

OK, for those interested here's the snap of the whole decoration, with some keys for scale. (I'll remove it before 2/52 though)

Thanks again:):)

Thanks for sharing the shot of the whole thing.
I don't quite know what I was picturing, but it wasn't that
It's only seeing the full ornament that I realise just how close up you'd got for your shot, so really well done on getting it so sharp

p.s. I rather like the ornament too.

Ooo - cinnamon! I love cinnamon, it just shouts "Christmas" every nosefull!

Arthur :D

I tried to work it out for some time but finally gave in and scrolled down for a look. It's a fine shot and all the better for being a macro shot

I thought it might be Cinnamon, I have a few similar shots from a bunch of flowers ;)... Nicely done, good curves, good details.

Some nice textures in here but I thinks the colouring leaves it a little flat. Give it some extra contrast and bump those curves.

Nice shot - it works very well! I agree about upping the contrast a bit, though.

Nice to see the image it came from, I was imagining some sort of sod (grass that is).

Certainly on theme!
