Hello all. I have a new monitor at 3440x1440 144hz with pointless HDR mode (no local dimming, just 250 nits max brightness). I also have a DP 1.2 KVM that I'd like to use.

Currently, it runs very well without HDR, in g-sync compatible mode and all the way to 144hz through the KVM, surprisingly. The monitor has a setting to use DP 1.2 instead of 1.4.

But some games, like BF-V defaults to HDR Auto, meaning I get "no signal" on the monitor when HDR mode is triggered.

Is there a way to force DP 1.2 on the PC side?

Alternatively, is there a way to completely disable HDR? Tell Windows to treat this display as a non-HDR display.

I figured it out. Here's how, in case anyone is trying to do something similar.

Use CRU monitor utility, following its how-to-use instructions.
https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU

To remove HDR:
Near the bottom, under "Extension blocks" section, select the selectable one and click Edit.
Remove "HDR static metadata" data block.
OK twice out of the dialog box and use provided Restart64.exe to restart graphics drivers and see toggle HDR disappear from Display settings.

Now Windows say this display is not HDR capable, The change is sticking after restarts and monitor unplug and plug back in.
