The cross bar at the bottom is from a tripod multi use holder (Neewer 8″/20.3cm Dual Camera Mount Tripod Bracket £14)
Camera Handle Grip Mount Stabilizer 1/4 Screw (around £11) but I cut down an old extending one I had kicking around in he workshop
Now for extra safety I am using the peak design cuff (won in a competition) screwed into the crossbar threaded hole
by using that cross bar leaves enough room to open the screen fully and the grip can be mounted above (as shown with plastic plug from the spares box I have) or under the cross bar. The above photo is my new Panasonic G9ii but the camera grip is a lot less than on the G9 original version so harder to keep steady.
I honestly can't believe the difference this makes. Now I can hold the camera steady indefinitely or until my arms get tired . I can see those interest in photographing small insects and not relying on a gimbal or tripod. also it makes walking and videoing much steadier as well. Not having tried it out in public so to speak but I can see me being approach asking about this setup.

Anyway this is my solution for those wishing to hold a camera steadier and those that have larger hands. Total cost for me was only £23 but may be a bit more if you don't have old gear unused lying about

I will be 80 years old next march (where have all those years gone) and although still fit I have already changed from Nikon DSLR cameras to four thirds because of weight . Holding even a Panasonic G9 or G9ii as per photo steady is and will become more difficult. So I had to come up with a solution that was not only practical but relatively cheap.
Still got the brain power to think of what for me makes my hobby photography more enjoyable without much effort and this is my solution

Just one other thing while the old brain box is working. I prefer the use wireless headsets while filming. Now I no longer have a camcorder for a short time I have to find another solution
Of course what is needed is a blue tooth dongle to transmit sound to the wireless blue tooth head set. There is absolutely no where one can stick (using m3 sticky pads) onto the camera. It is an east way to do a sound check by oneself for distance - quality etc.

Place it on the bar of course. Hidden away and neat
.. So microphone picks up the sound into the camera via the mike socket, then out through the earphone socket into the blue tooth dongle. then treansmitted to the earphone with very little sound time lag. All the time still holding the camera steady as the handle is tall enough to grip without touching the screen
