For those who doubted the success of the iPad

You are calling it a pen enabled device, Axiotron and numerous other technology companies, reviews etc call it a touch screen.

I am NOT saying that all devices that are touch screen have to have a pen so your phone example is ridiculous. I have a phone that is touch screen supplied by work and it works with either a stylus OR fingers.

This whole argument is pointless I was simply saying that the iPad and Modbook are both tablet devices with touch screens but that the Modbook would be better for me than the iPad. I would have preferred Apple to have created this device themselves as it would no doubt have been virtually as slim as the iPad and probably useable with fingers or stylus.

Interesting with the quotes.
I'd give it up Cowaski. I stuck him on ignore because he's just got the opinion anything he thinks is right and he won't listen to anything else, in fact anything else is heresy and you get snide comments for it. So much for TP the friendly site:thumbsdown:
I think he only does it for the attention and the sooner people stop feeding the troll, perhaps he'll starve and go away.

Enough anyway - I'm back to better stuff.

Whilst I LOVE my iPad, Joe has a complete boner over it, I would hate to think what he would do to Mr Jobs if they ended up in a room together... :)

Joe, people need to be allowed to have an opposing opinion without it being constantly hinted that they are stupid or wrong....you appear to have an unhealthy love of all things Apple :)

Always an interesting debate when discussions are about apple products!

I have both MS based products and mac products.

For most of my work I use a Lenovo Tablet laptop connected to a large monitor.

For my photographic work I use an imac and when travelling a mac book pro.

When the ipad came out I decided it was of no use to me. I own an ereader and don't like netbooks but do own a 7" Samsung Q1 tablet pc for in the field use. However I saw a friend using an ipad and decided I should buy one. It is one of the most useful tools for surfing the net when I am not next to a computer. Emails for the same reason. But for me the most important part is being able to read pdf files. I have a number of books and photography magazines in pdf format. Having now found 'mypdf's which cost £0.79 I am very pleased with the quality of text and graphics within the pdf. Before owning one I said it would be pointless as an ereader due to the backlight which affects your eyes on a computer. However I can now see the backlight does not affect your eyes in any way.

A final note about the ipad. I have a few friends who were going to buy one. In their words to replace an aging laptop or because they don't have a laptop. Well those who have either looked at or own an ipad will know that it is not and never will be a laptop. Anyone who bought it for that reason will indeed be very disappointed.

Regards

Chris

:D

well there was this one time .......

Look, I don't get where this impression that I don't think people can have their opinion comes from. I can totally understand why some people don't want an iPad and why it is not the product for them. The only thing I have not accepted in this thread is some of the reasoning people have given why the iPad isn't a good device.

People seem to talk about what it doesn't have, but it isn't that product so why complain about it not having some of those features. They are reasons not to buy it if you want them, so just don't buy one, buy something else. It has a specific niche and I think people are trying to fit it into a different niche than what it is. This isn't opinion, it's fact. It was designed to do certain things and not others. You don't hear people complaining about camcorders that don't have a high speed continuous stills mode - it's not that product so people accept it. I guess there is just a misunderstanding from some people about what the product should do. This is where I am unforgiving.

Don't like or want one, totally your opinion and thats fine by me. You aren't stupid or wrong for that. Though, you have misunderstood the product if you berate it for not having full OS control. IT ISN"T THAT PRODUCT!!! that's not my opinion, thats just fact.

I don't love all things Apple though. I love my iMac, my iPad, my iPhone and my AppleTV. But thats all I love.

I hate the nano, the third gen shuffle was poo, the new appleTV is poo for me cos it has no hard drive anymore. Flash not being on any devices now that Adobe have their mobile flash player is also poo (although i don't use sites with flash anyway - but i can still concede it's poo for those who do). I also think the apple cinema displays are overpriced. I hate that my magic mouse eats batteries like a bitch. I think mobileMe is gash, iPhoto is begining to grate on me because it can't handle all my photos properly, and snow leopard can suck my fat one because it constantly crash Flash CS3 and CS4 for me and wouldn't let me search using entourage.

So, yeah there's plenty I don't like!

I think after 5 pages, this is a good point at which to end :)
