Just a heads up :D

Continuing (cant remember who) posted about hats etc a while back. Was in M&S over the weekend and there was a whole bunch of bush hats in various colours and brim widths, at I would guess not silly prices either.

If this needs to be moved by those who move things to the correct places, please do so. I did think of putting it in equipment but thought here would be better for no real reason.

I am bald with more hats than days in a year and need them all!!! Burned, bumped, frozen and skinned, but at least the water either bounces or runs off, and if kippax is down here in southern france he has the variety of weather, today was 38 c tonight we have storms, great.

I have a rather thin spot on top as well. Several years ago I decided to get myself a Tilley hat - not cheap but extremely well made, comfortable, collapsible, warm in winter and cool in summer and washable. When it arrived, there were several labels inside including a lifetime warranty - if it wore out, it would be replaced FOC. Fast forward a few years and many washes, several hot and sweaty holidays and many dunkings in freash and sea water, the thing started splitting along the creases. Time to test the warranty! Off it went to the importers who phoned me within a couple of days asking for my size. Soon after that, a brand new hat arrived along with a note apologising for the delay and for the fact that the original had started to fall apart. Not only that but the day after, the original arrived back with me - clearly marked as one that had been replaced but still wearable if not as sun-proof as the new one. As I said above, the thing wasn't cheap (about £45 IIRC) but since it (and any future replacements as they become necessary) should last me a lifetime, well worth every penny! Oh, should I ever lose the hat, I can get another from them at 1/2 price - it's apparently "insured" against loss as well!

I tend to use these. No brim to get in the way, keep you cool and un-burnt. The winter one are great too.

I rarely wear a hat, but as I'm starting to grow my hair a bit longer again, it's looking a bit silly in the "inbetween" stage, so I've taken to wearing my old dangly back Topman hat, looks like a rasta hat a bit.

Looks cool and is warm

Ditto - I have a Tilley - cost me £52 this year, but worth every penny.

The best bit was finding a Gentlemans outfitters in Cheltenham that sold them. I felt underdressed going into the shop, but it was nice to have proper old fashioned service.

Ditto ditto..... I bought mine over ten years ago, a bit faded, but still as good as new. Its been sat on ( in Glastonbury mud) bailed out a boat, shades my camera ( and sandwiches) been in the sea, swimming pools and rivers and worn as a hat. I wouldnt be without it.

Another vote for Tilley.........expensive but worth every penny. I have about 6 in various shades and styles including the winter version (which I had to order in from Canada). I've had 2 replaced under the lifetime warranty, and both times the turnround was in less than a week (and also with damaged ones returned).

Just had a look at the Tiley site, and bloody hell they do a fair bunch don't they. I quite like the bucket hat (similar to my old khaki gap one).

I just bought the new hemp version..........can highly recommend it:thumbs:

Absolutely love the idea of those and you REALLY have to watch the demo!!

I can only imagine how stupid I would look in one. I'm not a hat sort of guy really.

Probably not as silly as you think, at about a tenner a pop they are so worth it.
Many uses, easy to store, i tend to go for the bandanna or beany hat choice of wearing.
