For the Automotive lover ... I need statistics on tyre imports into Saudi Arabia!

To cut a very long story short ... I need detailed statistics for all the tyre industry in Saudi Arabia. Passenger Cars, Light Trucks, Commercial Vehicles, Earth Movers, and Special Purposes (e.g. lifters and loader in ports and airports).

I need the data to be broken down by brand, and region for the country ... and if possible the sales per brand / region too.

I haven't the faintest idea of where to get this. Locally, I am not sure it is available. I've checked with the Ports' Authority, but they're not willing to give anything in details ... only a summary by weight

I don't mind if the data is to be paid for (within reason), I just need something that is very detailed and from a reliable / trusted source.

Any help, links, would be very appreciated.

HPI?

Thanks for the suggestion ... I haven't got myself down to doing the whole research myself; I am hoping to find a study, or report, that covers the topic I need in as much details.

Failing that, I will have to structure a detailed market study and identify all the players in the market, who are the local agents, what distribution outlets they have, and their sales.

The problem with this, it will take a few months to get a good picture, even if I was to hire a research firm.

Care to expand on that?

I haven't a clue on this subject ... my career was all banking and a bit with automotive (cars)... tyres is a whole new ballgame for me.

well they deal with lots of information on cars, you can phone them and get information on any make, model or registration of a car

dunno if they cover SA though and they might be quite expensive

goodluck x

Do you possibly have a link to them? When I Google! HPI I get lots of things on House Price Index, Homeless Poverty Index, and God knows what.

A link would be very much appreciated.

:)

Oh - hang on i will have a lookie but unfortunatly i only know them as HPI!

There is an office in Salisbury but thats the South West rather than the Middle East :P

There is a company called Keynote, who compile market reports on all sorts of industries and products globally. Not sure how much they charge as I used to have access via Uni. I found them useful for a number of reports so it might be worth a look.

Hope you find what you need.

Thanks big time ... now, if you can find me a Salisbury in Saudi that would be :thumbs::thumbs:; but a link to HPI would suffice :p

That's great .. thank you. I will dig them out and see what I can get .. I pray and hope they're not too out of my reach.

Great ... found lots of reports at Keynote ; am digging through them to see if any are suitable.

Thank you so much for the time and effort .. I will go and check it out

Oh dear hang on - its pasted the wrong link!
will try that again - LOL

Above post updated :)

lol ... somehow I didn't think it was correct! Thanks for fixing it :)

:) .. had a look, and thank you so much for taking the time to post the link; but sorry, this isn't what I was looking for. The site gives some data on cars, caravans and motorbikes ... but what I am looking for is import statistics for tyres (specifically into Saudi Arabia) for all types of vehicles / machines.

But again, thank you very much for the try.

sorry that must have been very confusing for you when you clicked on the first link!

i have no other suggestions i am afraid but offer you the best of luck with your research xx

I did wonder if you were trying to pull my leg with that first link ..... or some kind of practical joke :p  ....

Will continue to look tomorrow, now I'm too exhausted to even think! !!

The first and last link seem like fine reading, though they don't mention Saudi Arabia at all! I wonder if you know if these books / reports cover Saudi?

Thank you so much for the links.

By the way, the 2nd link doesn't work. It downloads something that opens up all messed up

No idea if they cover Saudi, i would think they should as they are meant to be worldwide.

I never downloaded the pdf file so not sure whats wrong i will have a look for you.

The two links that work have some pretty good reports.

I've managed to download the samples, and they seem very comprehensive. I think I will search these two links a bit more, and then enquire with them if they'd give me a discount (the reports don't cover all types of vehicles ... so I may end-up buying a few .. a bit more expensive than what I'd expected to pay .. but seems rather good).

Again, thank you so much for the links :)

Excellent, the only downside to this is that I may have underestimated the cost :( ...... one report sells for a bit under $4,000  ... great find, thank you so much.

Y'know I haven't been 'round these parts long, and I've been doing some light reading in the archives...

I think this request for assistance is the most bizarre I've come across so far....

That is all :p

Wait and see what I pull next .... I can assure you funny things come-up my path every now and then. I am not at all surprised by this; but how does whale bladders sound to you :gag:

Thanks, I came accross this in my search.

The thing with this report, and although it is priced reasonably, the contents seems far too shallow! The whole report is only 14 pages.... how on Earth do they tabulate and chart the whole industry in so few pages beats me. I am not looking for quantity of data, and of course quality is paramount, but 14 pages is far too shallow an analysis.

So, I am left to guess that the report is very concise ... with that, I have no idea as to how well they cover local importers vs. manufacturer vs. regions (Saudi is a very big country, geographically speaking) vs. tyre type.

Thank you, never the less ... any help is always appreciated, and gets me to focus better.

Thanks Flash, am checking these two right now
