Hope this is ok with the mods? I searched on Flickr for a Lencarta user group and couldn't find one so have set one up here

It is for people who use Flickr too and any Lencarta products to share images and give tips and techniques about how they took the shot. I would of course suggest people post on TP first...

Before anyone starts, I am not associated with Lencarta I have just bought some Elitepro lights....

I will put in a link in the group to the lighting section of TP for anyone that finds the group via other means!
 
I'm just curious to know if you did chat with anyone at Lencarta about setting up a Lencarta user group? In particular Garry Edwards, who contributes to most matters regarding Lencarta equipment.

Don't worry about anything in the Lencarta line. It's superb equipment and will stand you in good stead for whatever you are doing. I have a couple of EP 300W/S, stands and 70cm beauty dish and will be adding to my equipment again this year ......... Lencarta of course as it is so reliable.

I was just curious with someone who does not have any connection with, or equipment of Lencarta, may not have had the courtesy to discuss with the makers before trying to set up a users group when not a user?

Nope I haven't as you can set up a group on Flickr for anything! I will send him an email to see if he objects but I would have thought if anything it would be good pr...
 
There's no need to ask me - or Lencarta. And anyway I welcome it, it's good publicity.

I understand why you want to create it and its a good idea but its not just about posting about a certain product like a lens group its actually using a companies name so always best to seek permission first. Anything can be posted including incorrect specs or whatever and a consumer may not realise its an unofficial group, misinformation can spread.
 
Just post on there that it's for Lencarta users to post there shots , set ups etc and that the group is in no way contected to Lencarta .
I'm going to join the group now , and Gary has even given the :thumbs:.
 
Got some great shots on there now so thanks for those who have added themselves!

I think you're looking at this too deeply. There are hundreds of groups on flickr that discuss specific products, set up by users. It's a common occurrence....

Actually I'm not, I said its a good idea but always best to check with a company before you use their name in an unofficial way. Lencarta is not just a 'specific product' as you say. It's a company name. Besides theres no issue if they have ok'd it.

Okay, but maybe have a word with the many people on flickr who have set up Nikon, Canon, Pocket Wizard (etc) groups.....

Just saying.

As long as the description for the group includes unofficial, or not endorsed by, I can't see how it'd be a problem as it clearly wouldn't be eluding to be an official entity.

And as long as the images within the group are pleasing and the talk in the discussions is honest it's all good for the manufacturer :)
 
If I had Lencarta stuff Im sure this wouls be very helpful...and a good idea...easier for the Lencarta guys to check in to see if they can help out...as they so often do...also good that a non-Lencarta person started it...so no one shouting foul play...!!!

Thanks for the support! There are some great images in the group and quite a few members too! Don't forget if you have any questions on lighting though to post them on the forum here though!
 
Hi guys, I'm really pleased you have come up with this forum!

I have some Smartflash units after speaking with Garry Edwards, a really knowledgeble guy and one who always has time for his customers.

Got the Smartflash 2 head kit then added a third a short while after.

Well pleased with all their gear.

Anyway good luck with this forum.

The unofficial Sony DSLR flickr group is sooo much better than the "official" one. Real World users are much better than company reps, IME.

Lencarta is a little different, insofar as it uses experienced professional photographers to provide technical support and also market their products. I believe most others use reps
 
Unfortunately Rob isn't able to continue to run the group, so I've stepped in and am now the admin for it.

Nothing else has changed, it is still an unofficial group, there is no way that it will be used to promote Lencarta in any way. In other words, it's Garry Edwards the photographer who's involved, not Garry Edwards the Lencarta techie.
 
Oh just seen this, will join when I get on my main pc, got 4 x ep300's :)

Just joined as I picked up a couple of UltraPro's at Focus last week :)
Will add some shots as soon as take some!
 
I've just joined as well....once I start using my UltraPro 300 in vain, I'll post some pics ;)
