...between the two types of pocket wizard that I can find?

Multi Max and Plus II

I've looked at their website, but it's all a bit 'woosh over the head' to me. So, in simple terms, what are the differences?
 
Multimax has 32 transmission channels to choose from and Plus 2 a measly 4. Makes a big difference at footy where there may be more than 4 remote cameras all running PW plus 2's. Means you end up firing other peoples cameras. :(

You can also create lighting groups with these chanels with the multimax's to isolate lights or fire them at different times.

Another question regarding PW's...

Is it possible to mix and match MultiMax and Plus II?

ie: if I had a pair of Multi Max, but needed a third at a later date, could I get a cheaper Plus II ???

As all PW products are backwards compatible you can also mix and match the older (read: cheaper) receiver/transmitter units too - I've got PW, PW II and MM models all working together fine :thumbs:
 
So someone could have 'fun' at a match by taking along a transmitter and randommly firing it on differnt channels?

I seem to recall David Hobby writing about doing just that in his local shopping mall - setting off the lights at the kiddy-photo tog's booth and then watching her trying to work out what was going on :lol:
