For any one interested in photographing woodlands

Oooh that's a very handy link, thanks!

(will move this to TP)

Great Shows eight woods within ten miles of me, of which I new nought about.

Odd!

It says a woodland near me is under the ownership of the local council, and as I've spent the last 4 weeks trying to find the ownership(s), I can say it's definitely not under council ownership.

I am a Web Guide for the site. Let me know which wood to which you refer and I will try to ascertain the true ownership.

It's Great Orton Wood just outside Carlisle. I've tracked down 3/4 private owners already and Cumbria Wildlife Trust own a part of it. I was actually speaking to Natural England this morning (re SSSI consent).

The joys of my job mean that I get paid track down ownerships and have pretty much exhausted possible locals.

I'm wondering if the details on the site reflect Carlisle City Council having claimed management rights over the many PRoWs that cross the site. They don't own them they just have a 'legal interest' under a service level agreement from the County Council.

Thanks for the offer, but don't dig too deep as we have 'the legals' just to go on site and do the work anyway.. I'm just being polite and informing those who might need to know :)

Are you aware that some of the best kept woods, and natural spaces in the UK are cemeterys.

I live at the Lodge in one, and I am never short of subjects 365, no pestisides, hedges, no dogs, and 99.9999% of the time the only few people who attend are relatives, so no tourists, radios, picnics just peace, quiet and animals.

If you visit the site again and in the search area you select 'Wood' and then type in Wyre Forest you will see two entries. Thanks for looking at the site and drawing attention to the wonderful Wyre Forest.

Thanks for posting and is really an excellent site.
