Football: Second lens?

Does anybody use a wide angle lens on a second camera shooting football or rugby?

I was considering taking my 7D with a 24 - 105 to take close up shots, players 'on top' of me etc.

I use my 10-22mm behind the goal. If the players are that close i could use that hand held they are too blinkin close!!

I'm going to stick with my 70-200 f2.8 for my second lens with the desire and aim to be in a position to take some photos in the higher leagues

I would suggest you can use medium zoom (70-200) or a wide angle lens to shoot football!!

what would be your first lens- 400 2.8?
