Football pics help!

I took my camera to my daughter's first football game of the year yesterday!

Anyway the sun was low in the sky, but a really bright morning.
I fired off about a hundred shots, but they all seemed quite desaturated/faded:shrug:

I was using AV with the aperture at 5.6
I only have a 70-200 Canon kit lens, so could this be the reason??

Any help greafully appreciated.

Sounds like it could be flare - were you shooting towards the sun (needn't be directly) without a hood?

I'm not sure if I can post?
They were under 14's, girls.
Although I did have permission from both teams.
( I am currently awaiting my criminal records check!)

If it was in a public place (ie a playing field) then you don't need permission.
